The point is he should be our Centre forward. And he definitely is good enough for that. As the goals he scored to get us to these finals proves.

lbut as always england fans love making excuses such as 2010 when Lampard goal wasn't given and thought they actually would of won had it been given but i think that was a good thing because we would of had Argentina next and Messi would of taken that england team with his eyes closed.
Rooney is the scapegoat, why don't we play Gerrard out of position in defense and see how he does?
everyone seems to be blaming Rooney but what did Gerrard do yesterday? he seemed very very quiet and **** but no one takes that into notice because everyones already fixed on this " what ever happens, its Rooney's fault".
Play Rooney in the right position then you would see better displays, he was one of Man Utd only best players last season. This was his was his first competitive game after missing last few games of the season and he was played on the left which he can't play in.
If Roy carries on playing Rooney on the left then we should stop blaming Rooney and start blaming the manager. You can't play one of your best players out of position, do you ever see other countries playing one of their best players out of position? That's just a waste of Rooney's talents.
England still not good enough, even the last 16 would be achievement for them. Face the facts and stop looking for a scapegoat

that's not the point, whether they are brilliant or not , you will only see their best displays when they are playing in their position. How about we play jack wilshere in defense?

Sterling would have been better outwide, where his Pace causes many more problems as last night showed. When rooney came central he was playing quick short passes and pinging balls all over. The difference between him out left was obvious. I would still play him up top.

why don't we play every good players we got in different positions and see how they do yeah? Lets play Gerrard in left mid, Rooney in defense, Cahill up front, Sterling left back, baines in midfield. Since they are brilliant players.

Well when Rooney did play centrally, he did 2 things.
1) Missed an easy shot from 10 yards, hitting it wide
2) Took the ball off Barkley and then hit the ball over the crossbar.
Also even the best manager in the PL era, played Rooney out wide plenty of times
i Think Gerrard should be rested as well.
The guy was talking england up, as he captain, the leader of the team, he was awfully quiet yesterday, If Rooney had a bad game yesterday, so did Gerrard

Agreed Rooney missed that easy shot, but if he plays upfront, he would get more of them chances and he would of scored.

That's true. if we're going to see the best out of good players, its always when they play at their position.

Not really, Suarez played wide of Sturridge a few times for Liverpool and he still scored many.
He played as a wide forward in his younger days. Last night he started as a left winger. Van persie used to play wide left, you wouldnt put him there now would you?
Not sure if you noticed but barkley ran into the italian defence, had he continued he was losing the ball as less than half a second later he was clattered. Thats youth though, usually missing that final pass/thought.

Rooney was tasked with tracking the runner. The ****? Seriously? Your best striker has to track a runner and waste all his best talents? **** sake. Only in england eh?
Baines was poor, Gerrard did nothing but his customary 80 yard long balls which achieve nothing but make him think he's good, Rooney was poor, Wilshere did nothing... Sterling was good but most media appear to gloss over how many times he lost the ball in the 2nd half.
All in all, for an international performance it was 7/10. For England depressingly that means it was our best performance in years.
Rooney should only play up front. But you can't drop Sturridge in his current form. So Rooney should be benched and compete for the striker spot. Sterling, Barkley and Oxlade (if fit) should start against Uruguay, supporting Sturridge.

Well the way Rodgers handled playing 2 great strikers was playing a diamond formation. Dont think, Woy would do that, with the 4-2-3-1 formation, it be hard on Sturridge and Sterling to lose their position to Rooney.
Sterling was the best number 10, in the final 3 months of the league after Yaya.
