Been really impressed with Mexico so far.
Hope they finally get a good decision against the useless dirty Cameroon lot.

The deflected free kick gave a country a heart attack.

    Finally a break through, justice?!

Tidy little win for Colombia - looked quite useful although Greece were quite negative.

    COME ON ENGLAND!

I think Colombia will go out against a decent side.
    Probably last 16.

Well, Colombia gubbed Greece so i'm happy enough with that. I love the world cup - you get to express your dislike for certain countries based on sheer pettiness (my boss is Greek) and more or less get away with it!

So who will the British media blame for that defeat? I was surprised at how good England were. It is the first time I have seen them play, for a while.

It was a good quality game.
Really gutted about the result but we can still qualify.

Greece and the people are wonderful BB, am sure you know that, we are thinking of a long term rent in Crete.

A bmw drove through town yesterday sporting two England flags, I wonder how long they will survive and the car!

Rooney, despite his cross. Sublime pass to put him through though.

I was really angry when we gave the ball away in the 46th minute which resulted in several Italian chances. Overall a decent match and a good positive Performance.

Just a shame we seemed to lack energy and composure right when we needed it near the end because generally we played pretty well against a decent Italy side.

Missed some really good chances and the 2 goals given away were pretty soft which surprised me actually.

Sterling was very impressive butt hey certainly targeted the full backs and Rooney should have scored (albeit created the goal too)

A promising performance but have to covert those chances and make sure we tighten up at the back.

A final worry would be the way we did lose fitness at the end when chasing the game.

GT was on BBC Breakfast and said there would be one or two changes for Uruguay, but wouldn't say who or where. He did say that given the speculation before the game on whether Ross Barkley would play or not, he may be a possible starter. Must admit that when Welbeck came off, would have liked to see Lambert come on just to give the Italians something different to think about.

Perhaps it is just me but the World Cup seems very flat. There was little excitement in the build up and after South Africa there seems to be no expectation of decent results. Even losing yesterday does not seem so bad - normally when we lose I feel gutted but this time I just felt - ok they played quite well - had more corners and goal attempts than Italy - may have been slightly unlucky to lose - but there you go.

I wonder if the excitement will pick up if our next two results go well

A much better performance than most us were expecting. More worried about Baines tendency to find himself out of position. Not entirely sure what Joe Hart was thinking prior to Balotelli's chip either. Rooney as, as seems to be the perennial case, showed his quality with that one cross but spent the rest of the game struggling for form. Sterling looked more like a player earning his 21st cap not his first competitive start.

That said, all in all plenty of positives just a shame the result was so damned predictable.

Yes - it was good to see Sterling play well - I hope Barkley can do well too - Rooney does not seem able to shine when it really matters - and we have not had a really reliable keeper for years.

<laugh> In my church this morning the Priest said that there was an article out about 5 players talking about how their faith enahnces the way they liv thir life. I think it's a safe bet to assume that John terry and Marlon king are not among the 5.

Have I missed something? I know we have been linked with Juan Carlos Paredes, but the comment from Sam Matterface was interesting.

    "Paredes, now of Watford."

I couldn't believe it when they said that before today, Switzerland had only played 5 internationals outside Europe in the last decade, 3 of which were in South Africa 2010.
