    This was a travesty.

We haven't played very well, far from it. But we didn't deserve to lose.

It was never a penalty. It wouldn't be a foul even in basketball. It's a blatant dive. You work hard, you train, you're preparing for this match for a long time, and for what? To participate in a match you're destined to lose? It's a disgrace.

Really felt for you on that one mate. Must be so disappointing. I have to disagree slightly - I actually thought you did play well - you looked organised, disciplined and dangerous going forward. Modric was pulling the strings (though I wish he'd shoot more from distance) and had you been able to play Mandzukic up front, you could even have won that.

A great shame. I really hope you still qualify.

I think we can play much better, that's why I'm saying we haven't played very well. We respected them too much, there were parts of the game where we shown we could take control of the match, if had more courage and initiative.

I'm reading match reports form various internet portals and at least I'm glad it's recognized troughout the world that Croatia have been robbed by an incompetent or corrupt referee.

Come on man. We know FIFA is corrupt. It's not like I'm concocting some overly complex plot from hidden clues. We know senior officials at FIFA take bribes on the regular. They do it quite blatantly and obviously. We saw something like this happen in S. Korea. Then we saw Byron Moreno get booted out of the sport for cheating, and then dude went to jail for smuggling heroin. And we see crooked judging and bribery and trading of favors in the Olympics. And in many other big international sports/events.

Your signature says "feel free to correct me".... Croatia did play well. Of course Brazil were going to dominate possession and the crowd were going to be willing them on, but you did very well.

I feel for you having up watch that ending though; what a disgrace.

We know about FIFA officials taking bribes. We know nothing about them fixing games and we certainly don't know anything about refs or players being corrupt.

Come on Guys........lets leave the corruption theories to those that actually know what has happened, or at least are investigating.
There is no doubt that Croatia did not get the rub of the green last night. The referee thought it should be a penalty........In the very strictest sense of the rules....it was!!
We have seen them given in the past and we will see them given again. You have to ask yourself the question why did Lovren have his hands and arms on the guy? Ok a lot of that is accepted in todays football but it certainly wasn't a few years ago.
At world cups the ref's are briefed on the type of play/foul they are to come down hard on. Maybe that type of play is just one of them. Certainly nothing to do with bribes or any of that rubbish.............

probably not. this is not the kind of thing where innocence can be proved.

He may have been. I'm still trying to work out how croatia's right back didn't get booked. Three times he caught Marcello late. Can't believe he didn't book him. #conspiracytheorey

Well it can't be proved but as we live in a world where you're innocent until proven guilty people should assume he's innocent unless there is clear evidence linking him to match fixing.

we live in a world where the law (in some parts of the world) presumes innocence. everyone on an individual basis can do what they like and as soon as you're accused you're ****ed basically unless it can be proved someone else did it or it didn't happen.

You don't know that and you can't know that. Neither do I. But he's shown enough to suspect it. He's made more than one huge match-deciding mistake, all in favour of one team, who happen to be hosts of the World cup. It's fishy.

Come on, I sympathise but we see shocking penalties given all the time. If a pattern develops, then ask questions, but one match is not enough to say it's fishy.

in a legal sense the referee is presumed innocent. in a real sense, he's shady and i'll be wary of him in future but I'm not going to say he definitely is corrupt.

You're only saying that because you played Brazil. If you were playing anyone else, you would just be saying it was a poor performance. And there really was only one major mistake and that was the penalty. The foul against the keeper was soft but they're given all the time. Neymar could have been sent off but it was far from clear cut. Your bias is clouding your judgement.
