I am at the point, that if any of these things are true, of saying f**k em. Stick 10m on their value and tell them that's what is needed, or they don't go. End of. If the alleged buying clubs won't pay it then they can't value them enough.

He should not be allowed to leave.......he only joined last year and was given a decent contract.

The club have said nothing is happening until we have a new manager.
Dejan has a World Cup match tomorrow.

Yet Ashton is still stiring this **** up

Following Les Reeds video, his request should be declined until such time as the new manager is appointed and has time to discuss his future plans before accepting/withdrawing.
If so nothing will happen until after Croatia's involvement in the WC (assuming we appoint a manager by then!)
Also Liverpool (assumption) will have to pay our asking price in order for us to release him...what's his price? £20m?

Lovren, who joined Southampton at the start of last season, claims the changes to management have also affected his decision.

Shouldn't really analyse Daily Mail wording too deeply, but "changes" plural? It'd fit nicely with what we've heard about Cortese being liked, Les Reed being disliked, and all that. I still have the overwhelming feeling that Cortese was holding this all together.

I never trust the Mail, but their bullshit tends to be more vague for obvious reasons.

He submits a transfer request? Hmm, ok then.

I find that odd too, but I looked at the timings...

19th May - Lovren says he is happy and it's up to the club
27th May - Mauricio Pochettino leaves Saints for Tottenham
30th May - Lovren supposedly hands in transfer request

I guess that could be the reason, but it does still seem a bit out of character...

"I feel great at Southampton and my contract is valid for the next three years.

"So the only thing I can say right now is that the club is the one who decides."

He submits a transfer request? Hmm, ok then.

Why do people keep bringing these quotes up as if they suggest some sort of promise of loyalty? It is purposefully worded so as to be non-committal. The length of his contract means nothing; we all know that. The fact that he is happy here doesn't mean he couldn't be happier elsewhere; we all know that.

If he wanted to tell us he wasn't going to leave, he would have said that. He has purposefully and consciously not said that.

Why would you pick up on the least important part of the quote? He also says he feels great here and that the club will decide if he leaves.

I appreciate he could be playing the media game but there's no need for him to be so unequivocal.
