Right, I thought you were being sarcastic giving it the old 'footballers get paid too much' schtick. I'm still not 100% sure whats going on. This thread's been a rollercoaster.

It's better than the alleged 75k' bullshit with no actual source that you posted.

It's others who have posted the 50k, and 75k figures on this thread. You took a stab at 45k. I would humbly suggest that none of you have the slightest clue what wages he would be looking for or indeed what the club are prepared to Offer. The point I was making is that to employ someone on double and treble the wages of the other two centre halves may not work well from a footballing view point. From a balance sheet view point it may be a brilliant thing to do.

Lescott would be a very good signing. But ffs, if we managed to bag Fellaini, I would quite rightly be knocking one out.

    Would never happen mind.

I posted the 75k but not as an actual figure but saying that sunderland fans said it was the figure, and only in order to ask if any of us had seen an actual figure.

It's quite funny, one of the knuckle draggers starts it with a "I've just read .................." statement & it's taken as gospel.

Bit like saying something outrageous such as "Smeggy from Sunderland has a brain cell" & it being taken as fact when it's obviously bullshit & in reality you would be hounded off the board for posting something so ridiculous.

In a magic land, where the possibilities are endless, we'd take old Afro-man in an instant, and he'd play every week.

But this isn't magic land, it's this ****hole, where the possibilities for the human race are dwindling by the second. So he won't come here, like people have said.

I'd be delighted if he did, mind.

And £75k a week for Lescott...doubt it. That's mental money, and surely out of our capability? Very decent player though.

Let's have some more rumours please. It's been a bit slow to get started but I'm hoping we find a head of steam now, even though Fellaini was made up on this very thread, and I'm not even sure if it's a rumour...

If it ends up in the Mirror, FLG needs recompense, and I will personally demand on his behalf, by strongly worded email if necessary.

ffs, there's no Fellaini 'rumour'. There was just a discussion of his abilities that was not related to City at all.

There is a rumour, started by FLG, and I'll defend it with my life.

As a rule of thumb, if it's on the Sunderland board it'll be green eyed bollocks from a deluded fool. Hope that helps. <ok>

If this comes off I would be impressed, may be a bridge too far but guess we (or I) thought Huddlestone et al was a bit of reach for where the club was at. It shows ambition if nothing else and hopefully attract some other top larker to bolster the squad for the campaign ahead.

Who knows, maybe a ploy to drive down the price of the Dawson (if any real truth), Livermore and Rose (again, if any truth) deal. Either way, I am bordering on getting a SEMI!!!!!!!

What sort of amounts would encourage a player of Lecotts status to come to any club like ours?

I think the Lescott deal would hinge on the Livermore situation. Funding for that seemed to be in place. So up front transfer fee set against high player wages, I know which way I would look at it.

Livermore and Lescott could cost us a similar amount if there is a chance of selling Livermore on near the end of his contract.

Either way the fact that SB is dealing at this level will attract agents and players who would never have considered coming to City may take a look.

I expect him to go abroad, bigger clubs than us will want a freebie of his talent and experience. These stories are just his agent alerting availability.

I'm sure I read somewhere that he was prepared to take a 50% pay cut, as mentioned on a previous post.
