Who's going to look there? I just did, it's hardly used.

Might as well have a world cup discussion amongst us, we can discuss which United player is likely to carry the can for our exit for instance, although the bookies have stopped taking bets as it's going to be Rooney.

How far will we go and who will win and who's the dark horse?

I'm going for either out in the group stages or the semi. Random I know.

A final of Germany v Argentina which the Argies will win.

    Dark horse is Belgium.

Plucky one everybody fawns over will be Cameroon, but only because there is no West Indian team we can patronise.

Villains will be Uruguay or France.

I reckon Japan and Ecuador are going to surprise a few people at the world cup.

Any particular reason apart from each country having a Utd player?

Spain will win the World Cup again, and I think odds of 13/2 are an insult to a side that has dominated international football for the past 6 years. There team and squad is light years ahead of the rest. The heat may be a problem for a lot of the other European sides, but it shouldn't be as much of a problem for Spain, a country that is fairly hot anyways.

There style of play aswell is suited to playing tournament football. When your playing every few days, keeping the ball and conserving energy will be key, and there will be no side that will be able to out do them on possesion.

The Brazil side looks heavily overrated, I look at it and wonder how they can possibly be favourites, Fred leading the line, and Oscar is in the team <laugh>

Argentina don't have a decent midfield player, and Messi has had a dip in form this season, and has never done it at international level anyways.

The Germans have no chance with a 36 year old Klose leading the line, and with Reus now injured they're lacking some real pace in attack. Muller is clever, and Gotze is a great dribbler, but they'll need more pace to stretch teams. Reus was there outlet, he's a huge loss:biggrin:

None of them are English, so how can they get into the team? :)

Balotelli would be the only player I would take

    Germany no chance?

I've heard it all now, you simply can not say that about the Germans.

I agree that Brazil are only favourites because they're at home and no other real reason.

Spain are excellent, there's something in me saying they can't possibly win four tournaments in a row though.

    Can they?

If you two (and all the others) just want this thread to be yet another where you have non stop digs at each other it'll be deleted.

It's worthwhile to discuss the up coming world cup, not to be used as yet anther insult/counter insult, thread.

I think Spain will win the world cup, Brazil have a tough group despite what people say.

You really think a 36 year old is going to be able to play 7 games every 4 or 5 days in the heat. Well he's going to have to, as they only have one recognised striker. The Germans have also been unlucky with the draw, all of there group games are in the worst conditions. They will be like a clapped out old banger running on empty come the knockout stages.

As for Spain, who says they can't win 4 in a row? That's just a silly way to look at it. It's like flipping a coin 3 times and getting 3 heads, and then saying the 4th flip can't possibly be heads. When the chance of it hitting heads again is the same. Those 3 tournaments are done and dusted, and should have no bearing on the result of the World Cup. If anything it's a positive, as they have the experience of getting over the line. They've proved they can handle the pressure of the big occasion:biggrin:

I think the scummy Argies will win it, they have good players and IF Messie turns up a great player.

My dark horse team are the Merkins, for no particular reason

Englishland to get to the last 8 at best

Nothing 'silly' about it at all. It's called the law of averages and the fact it has never been close to happening before shows you how difficult and unlikely it is.

Happy to bet you, right now, twenty quid that Spain won't win it. Stick your money where your (big) mouth is.
