So at time when the board are trying to stop players looking elsewhere they would bring in Magath? Yes, the man has an impressive trophy haul. He also has an even more impressive reputation as a draconian lunatic that alienates the fans, comes up with ever stranger ways of disciplining the players such as FINING 2 of them thousands of dollars for a very minor formation change during a set piece and occasionally making sudden demands of the board under threat of resignation. This man can get results but for us at this time it would more likely result in the feared St mary's exodus becoming an almost literal reality. Lets hope this stays a rumour...forever
I'd like Magath to come here, in the same way as I would like to experience involuntary colonic irrigation using vimto instead of water.
Donât get me wrong. Magath wouldnât be my first, second, or third choice, and Iâd prefer not to have him, for the reason that he is not really ambitious enough a name, nor would he impress players. But still think heâs a decent shout as a manager with a proven record at the top level. Koeman would be great for that, but Iâm not entirely convinced by much else he might have to bring to the table. I think maybe getting players back on board could be what we need to go for above all else for now, though. Hoping for someone who can also push the football forward is a bit to hopeful. I reckon heâd be at best about Gullit level â nothing to write home about, but can possibly deliver up to a certain level of success with the right budget. Iâm still hoping really for something out of the blue. I hope weâre working on convincing Tuchel, to be honest.
He's just the complete wrong kind of character for this squad. Some squads need more discipline and whipping into shape. Ours doesn't.
Heard that rumour a few days ago. His odds have really tumbled today. 66s into 10s. Not sure what I think about him
Anybody think the odds are dropping each time somebody somewhere finds out they've been interviewed and puts money on it on that basis? Obviously an interview doesn't mean an offer...
I love it that someone has bet on Roy Hodgson. If the plan is to appoint before the World Cup starts, that would be some going by the Saints board.
Weird that Rosler is out at 66, the same as Maradona etc and longer odds than Roy Hodgson. I would have thought we'd have looked quite seriously at him.
Hi Magath has got a very good reputation here in Germany, and has managed some of our most successful clubs and through some of their most successful times. Bayern, Schalke HSV and what he did with Wolfsburg was not far short of sensational. But he is strictly `old school ´when it comes to training and keeps things very tight. His bark is definatly worse than his bite and he doesn´t deserve his bad reputation, the stars at Bayern loved him. Thomas Tuchel is all tied up in contracts at Mainz and they are playing hardball so that you won´t see him next season anywhere. Ralf Rangnick would be made to measure for Saints his work with the youth at Hoffenheim made his name in Germany and now hr´s doing it again at Red Bull Leipzig, they have bags of money so it would be very very difficult but if you DO hear his name look out for him, intelligent , attacking football with bags of flair best trainer in the German leagues by far.
Not low enough odds to be that I think. Think people are just putting random small cash bets on a few managers.
I think that's likely, yeah. Probably doesn't even need an interview. It would probably only take a phone call from someone at the club to a manager's representative, that gets out, someone puts a bet on, and the price contracts.
I did mention Rangnick at the start of this whole thing, but he stepped away from day to day management due to ill health unless I'm mistaken. His role at RBS is more like a Director of Football rather than manager. Otherwise yes, would absolutely love him.
