Why does there have to be mods??

Most discussions disintergrated in to people just hurling abuse at each other. It still happens occasionally but the good discussions normally outnumber the bad.


Due to the fact that the mods use a much lighter hand than on 606 the boards tend to be more tribal and less tollerant, but that is a small price to pay for more freedom of speach. It is very difficult to get the balance right and on the whole I think that they do get it right, although RAW, I did think that your Tozer comment was quite witty and did notneed to be removed.

It was a tad petty of the Newcastle mod, especially when they themselves come on this site and never get modded for their troubles.

I see that nobody's argued with the fact that I called them all ****ers.
 
There have to be moderators to look over the site so that anyone - young or old, male or female, etc, etc, can come on here with their opinions and feel comfortable expressing them. I remember starting out on BBC 606 and not exactly being kicked all over but feeling I should never have tried. It's different on here. Its not just the moderators. I have found that on here there is always someone willing to say something positive about anybody's contribution; providing it is not totally stupid or radical or nasty. I come onto this site because it is Sunderland, and I think I probably annoy a lot but have a lot of fun with others. I come on here to have a laugh and find out stuff. Moderators help. I wish I had the time and the inclination to do the job, but I dont. Moderators keep this place open.
