If Arsenal have the option of buying Fabregas, then they should go for it so he doesn't fall in opposition hands. I agree with The Bear, should Liverpool get him then it would be quite disastrous for us. If they managed over 100 goals this season, just imagine what they'll do with Cesc. Whoever he goes to he will make them significantly better, including us if we get him. If we have the money then we should get him to strengthen us.
Its in midfield. he filled role in his last year for Arsenal and has been played out of position at Barcelona due to him apparently being too poor to fill xavi's shoes. He was one of the best midfielders on earth in CM for arsenal.
It would make no sense for you to do so. Out of interest, whats the view from Arsenal fans on the chelsea policy of buy so others cant?
Why would it make no sense? Rosicky and Arteta are on there way out soon enough and there is still space in our squad. He's a world class player and at 30m he's a steal. He'd start every game for us and would fit in without a bedding in period. If we pass up on the chance to re-sign fabregas and he goes to another prem team it will be a massive fail on behalf of the club.
There's two key reasons we should sign Fabregas. In another 12 months we will be calling for another centremid. Arteta and Rosicky are both on their way out. Missing out on a player like Fabregas (when we have first refusal to buy) is just stupidity. The other reason is that should United, Liverpool or Chelsea land him he will immediately push those clubs forward a level. We only just made 4th place as it is. United will be better next Season, Liverpool and Chelsea will also be looking to improve.. It's time for Arsenal to get serious and get competitive. Players of Fabregas's calibre don't become available very often.
Isn't he the guy who wrote the article linked a few posts back? It has no quotes and further than that it doesn't even say "sources close to the club" or anything. Just a nice simple, arsenal aren't interested so city will sign him to replace yaya...
Yep, for Fabs, £30m is a steal for a proven top top quality prem and la liga midfielder. If Lailana is going for £25m or more.... Also you highlighted that both Rosicky and Arteta are on the way out. I would also argue that we have Wilshere with a patchy injury record, Diaby?, and Flamini who isn't a nailed on starter. We could easily operate with a 3 midfield of Ozil, Fabs and Ramsey. Change this around with Cazorla, Wilshere and Flamini. That would give us the best midfield in the prem and a sure injection of goals.
Wilshire, ramsay, ozil, carzola. Who gets dropped for him? If its wilshire or ramsay then send either our way thanks.
No brainer eh? So what about a striker? Pretty sure wengers not a moron and will go for a player in a position you are awful in. Spending 30 million on a player you dont need and paying him 150k a weel to rotate him sounds very stupid. More so when we all know it will Take most of your budget. Fabregas and another cheap and useless striker. Would you be happy?
Your comments make no sense. Cazorla has played predominantly as a lwf for us and played centrally when ozil has been injured. Fabregas would have no effect on his position in the team. Wilshere is a jack of all trades and spends a lot of time on the injury table. I'd expect him to be fit in as and when he can over the next season or two while he recovers from injury issues and we see whether he will hit that top level. If fabregas comes back to arsenal he'd play in a midfield 3 of Ramsey--fabregas with ozil sitting in front. It's Arteta whose place would be under pressure. I'd expect to see fabregas a more deep lying cm, being swapped out for flamini when we need to add bite. Arsenal need more depth and fabregas is the type of versatile player who adds world class depth to a squad. No-one would need to leave for him to join us.
Not entirely sure your worth my time but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your not just being a wum. Yep a no brainer. I'd say adding an additional striker is a no brainer as well. Given our current financial position I don't see why your getting yourself all confused and thinking we can't sign more than one player? And fabregas would start almost every game for us. He'd be a nailed on part of the first 11 not some rotation player rofl. And if we buy a cheap useless striker I won't be happy regardless of what other players we get. It's obvious we need a quality striker so why would I be happy with us signing a crap one? Very odd comments from you.
Yesterday Barcelona made a tweet naming their players who are in the Spain squad for the WC but didn't mention Fabregas.
This time around it does feel like there is some truth in fabregas being available. Let's hope he is coming home!
I happen to agree with UIR,as I said in an earlier post if we're going to spend £30/35 million I'd rather it was spent on players in positions that need strengthening.
Of course they would. You are overstocked in midfield. And fabregas can play anwhere in midfield or behind a striker. He can even do the false 9 role as well. You buy him and it will be great news for everyone else. Sure he improves you already great midfield but you still dont score any goals. Goals win games at the end of the day. Im sure fabregas would want to play every game as well. Only one club who can offer him that really. If he wanted to play out of position and be rotated he would stay at barcelona surely?
So your of the opinion that signing fabregas means we can't sign any other players.....? I don't get the logic behind that thinking. We know we are able to spend a significant amount should we choose to this summer. I understand the thinking behind your point about strengthening areas we need to first, but the whole point of Uris comment was that signing fabregas would stop us signing a striker or that we would have to sell players to accommodate him. Which simply isn't right. As for spending on areas that need it, when a world class player becomes available you sign him up. This isn't football manager this is real life. And in real life when an opportunity comes knocking you take it or you miss out.
