Liverpool would be seriously formidable with Fabregas supplying Suarez and Sturridge. I hope to **** we sign Cesc. It would be a disaster if he joined one of our rivals.
We don't need Cesc, but it would be stupid to let him go to a rival and so we should buy him instead of another PL club.
Part of the problem with falling away from the league last season was a lack of squad depth. Ramsey, Theo, Ozil, Wilshere and more all suffered injuries. Strength in depth is needed and that is something Fabregas can supply. Having Ozil, Wilshere, Fabregas, Ramsey, Cazorla, Rosicky vying for the central positions allows rotation and covers for injuries with quality.
Yes, but £35M for a squad player where we already have strength is a lot. But, I'd rather waste that money for Cesc to be a squad player than let him go to a rival that he would actually strengthen.
If the club are going to spend £30/35 million on a player I'd rather it was spent on player in a position that we need.We need a class holding midfielder and forward not another player in a position where we have plenty.

Surely if he is available you must get Fab back? The argument that other positions are needing sorting first is bang on of course, but what Fabregas brings is experience of the Prem and Arsenal, will need little adjusting, is a winner and brings that much needed winning mentality to the squad too. If you ask me although his actual playing position is not needed, players with a big game mentality certainly are, and he provides that! Rosicky is not getting any younger, Wilshire looks destined to be another Diaby and you guys are notorious for injuries especially to the creative players.
I think we should buy him back if he's available. This season showed us that even with players like Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil we were still short in MF when it came to the crucial time. I don't think Wilshere will be another Diaby, but he has suffered with lots of injuries and I'm not sure we can rely on him for a whole season yet. Also as you point out Rosicky and Arteta are nearing the end of their careers and will need replacing soon. I wouldn't want us to sign Fabregas at the expense of a striker or holding midfielder, but I'd hate to see him come back to the prem only to go to a rival, that would be negligent on our part. Arsenal have the money and I think we need to make sure that not only do we strengthen but that we don't allow our rivals to sign a player of Fabregas' quality.
Do we not get 50% of any sale on Cesc ? I could have sworn there was a clause that we get half any sell on fee. If that's the case, we have to weigh up whether we want to spend £35m on a player who we may not need and if we were to pass up the offer we would collect £17.5m, which makes more sense ? One final thought, we know how influencial AW is on players, his new 3 year committment could be huge...
Is that £17.5m worth it though if he signed for Utd or Liverpool ? I'm not sure I could stomach seeing him improving their teams at our cost.
I doubt we will get a holding midfielder if we sign Fabregas, Wenger will opt to continue using Arteta-Flamini alongside Ramsey, or in this case, Fabregas. Maybe next season when Arteta's contract comes to an end.
If there's a buyback clause doesn't that mean you'll need to overspend by whatever the clause is to get him? He's going to United for me, unfortunately.
Cesc Fabregas will not return to Arsenal from Barcelona as Arsene Wenger rules out £30m move http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...lona-as-Arsene-Wenger-rules-out-30m-move.html
Best choice for him. Would be used in his preferred CM role and is a guaranteed starter. Doesnt get that elsewhere in England. Not saying we will get him mind. Lot of variables. Weve made a bid according to the spanish press though.
Pretty sure his preferred role is attacking midfielder. Its where he moved to to become the focal point of our team, and its where he plays at Barca. Also he would be a guaranteed starter at any club in England.
