We have had 3 bids turned down for him and we're expected to go back in for him. The bids are considerably more then the rumoured 3M.

Brighton's media reckon they will sell for around 6-7M

I do think that he is quality but I wouldn't go over 4m. He's not worthy of breaking our transfer record.

He's on a long term deal and has almost a 1 in 2 scoring rate in the Championship, that normally gives you a £6-7m valuation, look at Rodriguez, Rhodes etc, we agreed £4.5m for Austin and he was in the last year of his deal.

It is very expensive to sit at the top table.
He is a bargain when you consider Sunderland paid £7m for Altidore.

Hmm but both Rodriguez and Rhodes would have some potential sell-on value... Rhodes is still only 24, and Rodriguez was only 22 when he moved to Southampton.

Ulloa is already 27, will be 28 before the season starts... Not worth £7m IMO

Ulloa is 27 and has a bit of trouble with injuries though.

my mate is a brighton fan and says he really isnt that good...

To be fair we would probably have said the same about Vardy and Drinkwater a couple of seasons ago. Ulloa no doubt has quality but hope we dont shell out 7-8m fot him

true, but then no one would be trying to bid that sort of money for them...

Looks like Pearson needs someone who can use his head up front, fair point seeming our strikers didn't score that many from the air or from set pieces last year.

I have a mate who is both a Brighton season ticket holder and someone that I've played footie with in the past (and he's no mug ifrom my perspective) ... he ribbed me each time they beat us this season so I sent him a 'commisery' text after the play-offs also joking about pinching their two best players ... his view was that he was not too concerned about Upson but that he would be gutted to lose Ulloa, particularly if the price was not circa £6-£7m ... he thinks he is that good.

Personally I've been impressed by what I've seen of him first hand and I doubt that we would be going back with these (alleged) repeated bids if we had not thoroughly done our homework ... including getting the views of our own defenders ... let's not forget Wasyl has played against the world's best strikers during a long established international career with Poland ... I think we will like this guy ... not only is he technically good, he is also a bit 'rugged' ...

Not sure we can judge him as "not good enough" unless you were a Brighton season ticket holder and saw him play all season. I trust our superb scouting system and we have to look at the bigger picture in that we will be playing a different formation next season and so need a different style of player up front. Big strong, technically sound, can hold up play and can score. I'm sure we will get our man. Whoever that is we will see

If Nigel is persistantly bidding for him and there big bids then I would have him

IMO I would rather someone else but I trust NP. Whenever he has spent decent money on someone they have always turned out to be more then worth it

These - I've seen comments about some of our players from fans from other boards that clearly haven't watched them or have seen them only in a single game either on telly or against their club ... Ulloa has a very good goals ratio and also seems to score against top clubs when he comes up against them ... that is no mean feat ... Liverpool are reportedly signing Ricky Lambert for £4 million ... personally I'm happier with us being linked to this guy than I would be at the prospect of us signing Ricky Lambert ... but do I know better than Brendan Rodgers? ... doubt it ...
