The tactic used to work fairly well when a certain Mr Lambert was at Norwich.

maybe panic buying is the wrong phrase - they've been signed on reputation as opposed to ability.

there's no point bringing in players early if they aren't very good and i wouldn't want le fondre and even less so macheda at norwich city.

Well that's why football is so great we all have our own opinion, I think we will struggle to attract players with our manager choice. I like Adams and think I saw signs of improvement each game so am optimistic but not sure what player he will attract compared to the likes of Lennon or Malky

i agree, i too think we will struggle to attract players because of the manager. he has no pulling power whatsoever.

but i'm bloody thankful we weren't after macheda <laugh>

Couple of rumours regarding Fer to Everton for ?£7 million. Maybe re hash of old story but would snap at that sort of money.

Say Ruddy and Snodgrass go for about £10-12 million, with the Fer money, that would be decent and I would be OK with that.

As I say just rumours so probably nothing in it.

If we could get close to £20m and only loose those three I would take it. Fer is a player I really like but I doubt he will want to play in the championship, Snodgrass whatever people say is not irreplaceable, and frankly was poor for the first two thirds of last season, I'm sure he would be an asset next season but not the player to build a team around. And ruddy us excellent but we have good goal keeping depth and it would be good to see Rudd play.
If we only lost those three players but kept the rest of the squad I would be delighted.

Call me pessimistic, but I reckon it would be a bit closer to the £15mil mark for the three of them.

On current form the Board will probably have a "BOGOF" offer on them ....

What about any of these: Gabbidon, Cole, Collison, Charmak, Duff, Rise, Sidewell, Albrighton, Delfuaneso, Westwood, Cullar, Gera, Koren Fryatt, Forte, Etherington, Ridgewell Karagounis and Jermain Defoe. All available. ( Well Defoe would be nice!)

Good grief!! Is that what Bowkett means by getting in better quality?

Memories of a polo midfield ( no centre) !

Have Villa released Westwood? I thought he was one of their better players? He'd be an excellent signing.

Also, with a couple of Dutch midfielders picking up injuries to rule them out of the World Cup surely Leroy's chances of making the cut must have improved, which surely won't do his value any harm if he does go (which I'm almost certain he will)

Thing is, he's a decent striker and especially in Portugal... So why wouldn't they be interested!? Just cos he played for there local rivals. If benfica come calling, he will be off like a shot and will start banging in the goals again.

Yes, he is, I agree. I dunno though, I'm just skeptical is all.

They have quality strikers already in Lima, Rodrigo and Oscar Cardozo. Plus, compared to other sides in Portugal, they are not exactly needing to sell.
