I know you weren't mate, it was me who just started talking about saints players, as that's who we're linked to today! (No surprises)

I'd love to have shaw play for us. That is worth it as he's so young.

As you've said though, it'd be awesome to have the business settled early. Unfortunately I don't think anything will start until after the World Cup.

Well, Baldy's off to Barcelona according to reports, so maybe he's starting early.
We brought Modders in before a world cup didn't we? I seem to remember that being a VERY early deal but i can't remember if it was a tournament year or not.

How long between the end of the world cup and pre-season?

This early announcement is going to at least keep fans happy with speculation and what the team will be, until Pochettino turns out to be another wrong choice as manager. He isn't right for us and we have made another mistake by handing him a 5 year contract.

Exactly. If you want to be a real pessimist, this could be the highlight of the year. We've got a new manager in early, many people think he's a good choice, and we've got till at least our first game before it goes pear-shaped (well, with a little luck). I plan on enjoying it.

I take it you would have preferred we keep Sherwood, Boss? It's a tough call for me, and might depend on how the players felt and feel. What worries me about Poch is how high a line he plays. I've come to the conclusion you should only press once the halfway line is crossed. Until then the risk/reward factor isn't there. While in their half, they aren't far enough from their goal to expose defenders, and you are. While Sherwood played a very high line for a few games (which turned out badly) he reverted to a less kamikaze approach and did much better. On the other hand, I like how Saints played, and like the commitment to training Poch has.

I like both Sherwood and Poch on balance.

I can't believe no one else has noticed that he has Richard Nixon as his interpreter there.

Interesting. I didn't think there'd be that big a % who are unhappy!

I know he wasn't a lot of fans first choice, but to be "unhappy" surprises me. It could be a lot worse.

But with those stats in mind, Levy has gotta pray that this one works.

I'll believe that when I see it.

there's no way we'll end up with a net spend of £30m

Personally, I think these polls are a stupid waste of time. Am I happy or unhappy about Pochettinio's appointment? Ask me in 6-9 months time. In that time I would like to see us moving in the right direction, at least. Hopefully, playing some decent, attractive football. And even the games we lose, I'd like us to have given a good account of ourselves, at least. Not being humiliated by 5-6 goals on our own backyard, etc.

So, whilst I hope and think the guy will do well, if given some time and space - I could be wrong. Only time, and a little patience will tell if he's the right man at last, or not.

    Exactly.
Also, some improvement in games vs the Spammers would be nice. I have no desire to be tripled by that lot and Arsenal again in my lifetime thankyou very much.

I would go further back and would have preferred Redknapp was given another year (at least) considering the fine job he done for four years. Instead (as I predicted) we're bouncing from one manager to another, wasting millions on players, missing out on the top four and handing long term contracts to rookie managers. But yes, Sherwood would have been a better option then Pochettino. Sherwood was screwed over and never stood a chance but as he said himself "I would have got us top four" and I believed him, why wouldnt you? he has a superb win rate, not shy of giving youth a chance and doesn't take any crap from whining foreign players who believe they should be playing for Barca.

Instead what do we have? a man who finished bottom in Spain and done a decent job with saints for one season. Is that deserving of a five year deal? I wouldn't say it was and its going to backfire like it always does.

This is getting on my tits. The 5 year deal has clauses, as has been mentioned.

Sherwood was a ****ing joke and did not take care of the dressing room and was too divisive

The official announcement says "five year deal", it doesn't say "five year deal with clauses incase he is crap", plus the clauses are rumours from twitter so while there may be clauses, no one actually knows what they are unless we're treating the mirror as ITK.
