Was the other sharks redtails by any chance? Mature males of either species will not tolerate each other. For 3 male Ruby or red tail sharks, which are algae eaters mainly, you need a about 4 feet of tank per shark so they can have their own territory.

Your fish guy doesn't now what the **** he is talking about.

Known as aquaphibians in Stingray <ok>

The only fish fella in Mansfield who knows what he's on about, sells them in batter mate

It was Pets at Home so no, he didn't have a ****ing clue <laugh> I use a couple of local independent merchants now instead.

One was a rainbow shark, the other was a silver shark. I got the silver shark first and was therefore the biggest and the eventual brief victor too <laugh>

I had a custom 600l, jewel 450 vision, 350l corner tank trigon, Vision 160l, aqua One 360L perspex 200l quarantine, record 180l and a bunch of 54 litre hatching and breeding tanks. then the ceilings started getting soggy in the fish room from moisture. I had to cut back

You could have bought a de-humidifier and kept going! :)

If I weren't married I'd probably have a dozen or more tanks. I want species tanks for freshwater shrimp (since they tend to get eaten by fish)... I want a marine tank... I want a brackish tank for mudskippers. I want a hard water tank for cichlids... and a blackwater tank... a snail tank... a crayfish tank... a tank or two for larger fish such as Oscars.

Have to keep myself satisfied with just one tank! :( Two if you count the small 10Gallon tank in the office for the Betta.

If I ever strike it big would like to build a huge tank for red-eared sliders. Don't feel comfortable keeping them in anything that would fit in my house comfortably because I feel like they need/deserve more room.

...grows to about 10" but I guess there will be the odd occasion they grow bigger or smaller as all living things do. Did yours get to 18" then? (oo-er)

PS...I named him "shark". I didn't name the red tailed one as the was the mrs' (not married) choice. The albino was named "albino" <laugh>

thsi is a fascinating thread really. it is just plain itneresting to see a different side of youze guys and hobbies.

Yeah true. When I posted the OP, I didn't expect Milk and Sisu to be the main contributors TBH. Thought it would be someone like CCC, Dave or Donga for some reason.

One of the coolest fish that I hope one day to keep:

The need brackish water, humid air, and access to land. Mudskippers are just so odd- I love 'em.

Yep, Bala Shark as in the video I put up, mine is over 11" and not fully grown. It's what you feed them, can see this one in the pic was on a lowish protein diet, his body has no bulk, it's an unnatural shape for that species, I fed him crickets and blood worms. Unbelievable jumpers too they are, quite adept at jumping out of open top tanks while you are cleaning them and scaring the **** out of you<laugh>

Awesome little buggers. They are no beginner fish those.

I'd like some Archer fish myself.

Awesome- I've seen them on wildlife documentaries but hadn't heard of them in the fish trade... googled them. Brackish water! :( I really have to do a brackish tank one day; between Goby's, many cool puffer species, and mudskippers (not sure compatibility here... puffers can be aggressive), so many odd- and cool brackish fish.
