Hell guys, look on the bright side, our team is straight back in the Premier League, £45m is a great sponsorship deal and hopefully we can all look forward to better shirt design in a year's time. As we all know, Rome wasn't built in a day and despite the Four Year Plan, neither was our club.
Hate this new kit. Hoops not stripes. Like the all white. ..I guess.... Not buying this year I guess- going retro
Greenock Morton got exactly same kit too....also used to play in thicker hoops...hope it gets better for next year, but dont dislike the all white 67 style kit
Possibly mate, but I'm not sure what it would mean for Fernandes. I think he does actually want to balance the books and finding another way to give away his cash doesn't help. There were questions about Etihad's sponsorship of City being out of kilter with the market and unfair, because the airline and the football club are owned by the same person. Arsenal, however, get £30m for stadium naming rights and shirt sponsorship from Emirates, which is truly impressive. Who knows, we might see a massive jump in the value of sponsorship when we get the new stadium and give it a cheesy name. But just being back in the Prem makes all this stuff much more valuable again, especially for companies with an interest in the Far East. I just think the commercial team has done a remarkable deal getting more cash from shirt makers than all but 6 other Prem teams. I wonder if, had we stayed in the championship, the cash would have been lower. In the circumstances I can live with the stock shirt for a year.
Well I am going write to Beard (that'll teach him) Saying I know we have to have it this year...apparently ( but even from Nike point of view why? Do not really get that reasoning) But say consult the fans, and get it right for next year Then I will hit him with some superstitious mumbo jumbo...of never being good in thin hoops...as said above...that'll teach him Will let you know when (more like if....) I get a reply
Initially I thought that the home kit was awful......but it has sort of grown on me, no it's not ideal, but it's not bad. I quite like the strips of the 2nd kit, rather stylish and so much better than the change strips we had for the last 2 seasons in the prem........I know that DTM is iconic but it's not been the change strip every season, it's good sometime to have a change. Really like the all white strip, classy......
fair play tramore but the stripes are just wrong I'm afraid. Wrong, wrong, wrong. we're the super HOOPS for gods sake!
Good idea. Can everyone on Twitter make their feelings known to TF, Beard etc? After watching the team change into the blue and white hoops to get the trophy, I thought Fernandes clearly understands the importance of the shirt. But after seeing this new monstrosity, apparently not. Also, how can a multi-billion pound organisation like Nike, only have a certain amount of kit designs in their 'catalogue'?
Simon, if you have read the mountain of responses across various sites, then either you do not believe what the club (TF and PB) are saying in terms of how these partnerships work and they are lying and just could not be arsed to try and sort out a decent kit, or you feel confident that if you yourself were are the negotiating table instead of PB and TF you would be able to convince Nike to give us exactly the kit that the supporters believe they want and still get a 5 year contract from them to pay US £45m.
The only thing I really dislike is the stupid, cheap, clashing iron on badge on the AC Milan strip. DTs colour coordinating badge is the way to go. Writing to TF/Beard, starting a Twitter campaign will be both fruitless and unhelpful, unless you want a club with £177m debts to throw away £45m sponsorship in order to get thicker hoops for one season. Get real.
They know but as has been said, we could only pick from their catalogue in the first season which applies to all contracts. They should be fine from next season on. We could have had proper shirts this season for £10m less but that would be madness.
Seems TF's been bombarded on Twitter already. I understand the economics of it but why can't Nike with their resources design and manufacture a kit that the fans are going to want to buy? Why do we have to take one from their catalogue like some Sunday morning pub team?
That is the point...if anybody read my post....OK for this season...just make sure it is OK by next season
Personally after the way the club clinched promotion and for the effort everyone's put in i'm prepared to cut the club some slack for the awful strip. It just doesn't feel like the time to be griping. Having said that it does seem strange that something as simple as designing a hooped strip, based on the strips of yesteryear, which everyone wants, should be got so wrong. How difficult can it be to design a football kit, seriously? Stripes FFS. STRIPES! Surely there comes a point where the designer unveils the new kit and then someone at Rangers goes…'er…no…that's ****. I said Hoops for starters. Now have another go and show me something by Friday.' Or do we just have to take one from the catalogue like simonstainrod says? Odd.
Unfortunately, yet again money talks. Don't agree with bombarding TF as his hands were tied but surely all the clubs should be standing up to Nike. A Twitter campaign aimed at Nike from fans saying they won't be buying shirts may make them take notice. Big firms can't ignore bad customer relations on social media.
The point here is that we are very much defined by our kit as a club. Unlike the generic designs of most other clubs where it really wouldn't matter much if you picked from the 'catalogue' of options mucking about with the QPR kit really does change some of our fundamental identity. It's hard to see what value Nike get out of insisting on this. I fear Beard didn't try hard enough and/or simply doesn't get it.
Come on you Superstripes!!! ..... Just doesn't have the same positivity that come on you Superhoops! does.
Can't the lads just get the scissors out, make holes each side and stick their tactical units up one of them - then we are Superhoops again. Ok thats the away kit sorted. For the home kit well they could stretch it down to their knees and tie it round there like, which will make the stripes wider again. This will also save them wearing shorts which will save a bit more money and which Beth maybe you will enjoy?! I'll get my, erh coat was it?
