Well we dont know for sure, but to be fair his job is to manage the team and deal with what he has to some extent.

I manage a team in my company and I dont go getting all pissy when I dont get my own way and leave when they tell me there is no Lavazza in the coffee machine and it has been replaced by Nescafe!

To be fair you have a good point, but it just coud be that his expectations were also unrealistic.

I would believe most fans would want us, having been down the administration route previously, to be run efficiently to ensure the future of the club - and to continue to promote youth. A club like Spurs cant spend £50m each season going forward and as far as I am aware they dont have an academy remotely close to ours...

For me, I am happy if he stayed and happy if he goes - currently it says nothing about our Board or plans until we see who we get and what they have to play with.

I think really it's as simple as 'ambitious young manager sees opportunity to further career'. Unfortunately that wasn't to be with us. Onwards we march.

I've just seen the Daily Express back page (I know it's not the most reliable of sources) and it suggests that Pochettino is going to quit, meaning we don't even get the compensation from spurs buying out his contract. Talk about loyalty.....

Except that his contract says he has to pay out, not the other team.

I am sure you are right, but surely he is selling himself somewhat short here.

I mean he is a very good manager as demonstrated with us over the past 18 months, but there must be 91 clubs in the football league who dont believe Spurs will break into the top 4 and remain consistent.

To me, he could do a better job where he is and land a bigger prize without the risk (unless he views the risk as lack of funds etc.)...

He's likely had his fingers burnt as Espanyol where he had his best players sold from under him. If he fears the same situation, again I don't blame him. It shows he has the capacity to learn too!

Exactly. He went from being one of the hottest managerial properties in Europe to getting sacked by a team hovering around the drop zone because he stuck by them. I don't blame him for being wary -- rightly or wrongly -- of repeating that pattern.

And it would be much more damaging to his reputation for it to happen again.

Oh I do hope I'm underestimating what the board are doing.

Is it bad that out of all the names linked so far I would take McClaren here? I like him.

Did an excellent job with Middlesbrough I thought, plus years of experience as Fergie's number 2.

Didn't follow much of his work in Holland (The Netherlands ^^^) other than he won the league and gained an accent.

So I'd be happy to have him

Would also be happy with Moyes, for what it's worth (can't deny the success he had with Everton, and had a reasonable record with younger players)

I don't see any reason for Steve to come here though. Good squad at Derby, youthful, playing his way.

Must fancy a good crack at it next season at a club he is very popular at, surely?

Completely agree. Sadly when I add this news (I know it's not confirmed yet but it seems likely) to what Beefy has said about transfers and then take into account the general concerning tone of the interviews our players have done I think this summer is going to be long and unpleasant.
