    Good question! :)

I agree but I wanted an equally unlikely example to contrast with the boat you reckon Katharina wants.

I've been speaking to this guy online, after he followed me when I did that Pochettino piece for one of their fan sites.

    He's very reasonable.

See - I think this quote is interesting.

When we offered the new deal, we did not have to make it public as it is not in anyone's interest to declare it. Why should we try to up the pressure for him to sign after all. if he wants to be here then great, if not then perhaps we dont want to be seen to have been turned down.

It is a little like asking your girlfriend to stay with you when you think she is hot on someone else, then telling your mates that you are waiting for her to say she still loves you...

In addition, could it be at all possible that we are indeed the one's feeding people like Blackmore the info for him to come out with that comment...

To be honest, I read this forum far more than I contribute, and I understand all sides to this situation.

The fact remains, do any of us seriously believe that our Board are totally clueless about this situation, our strategy on and off the field?

Our current Board etc. new ages ago that Cortese was likely to leave. They did not stand around doing nothing, they had already planned by approaching Krueger etc. Those types of apppointments dont happen over night - they take months of planning as people at that level cant just walk out of their current roles.

In addition, KL will know next to nothing about running a football club. Conversely she probably knows very little about many of the business she is involved with. But I am certain she surrounds herself with people that do know about these things and she has an overiding say in the overall strategy (i.e. funding and other commercial aspects).

In any sense, even if MP does go, life goes on as it did when Adkins went. Another manager will come in, have his own ideas/players in mind and the process starts over again. Players are professionals and are sitting on contracts - I believe players will be sold this window (and if we honestly get £30m or so for Shaw any business would be insane not to take it). It is not unusal for a manager to leave or players to get sold/poached (whichever way you prefer to view it). They are not going to be unsettled by this as it happens all over the world.

So, I guess what I am saying is let's give our Board a chance and back them - I dont suppose for one minute they are so naive and stupid as a number on here may be thinking (even those just caught up in the emotion). No business at this level (of investment and turnover) possibily could, particularly one which has such an emotional tie as KL has though Marcus.

Finding it very hard not to be dispenser here. I just see this as confirmation that Cortese left due to a lack of ambition on the part of KL and obviously MoPo has seen something similar.

Nice to read a number of positive posts though which is helping me step away from the precipice!

    Like Krueger? :)

I get what you're saying, but I fear for it a little. As a group they have a long way to convince me that they really do know what they're doing and have ambition for the club. I agree we have to back them at this point though and see what's round the corner. I have never been a fan of the Krueger appointment, and unlike many became even less convinced by him having heard him speak.

But, I could be, and I desperately do hope that I'm utterly wrong.

For the FM fans - I suspect a few people may wish this to come true should Poch go to Spurs -

Well. I think Krueger coming in is a tough one due to the achievements and popularity (from fans) of Cortese. It doesnt mean he is a bad appointment and in reality they havent had long enough to make an impression.

To be fair to the club, I always felt if Spurs or someone percieved as being bigger than us came in for MP then it was always hard for him to turn down - perhaps if Cortese was still here then perhaps it would be different. Again, to be fair to the club, we havent had much time to work on MP staying (6 months isnt so much time, and I am sure he must have been tapped up for months), so was always going to be hard for us not having the personal relationship that MP and Cortese had.

I am somewhat angry with MP for what it appears to be him leaving - I dont believe he has the integrity that he makes out otherwise he would be staying and trying to improve us. I would suggest his comments regarding wishing to see out his contract could have been around he is happy to stay in the public eye and also financially - he may not wish to go etc.

In many ways it is quite exciting to see who we get. I would be gobsmaked if the club go for Mackay, Hughton, etc that have been named a few pages back.

To be fair, and this is not me being sour at MP going, the last 2-3 months of the season were becoming very frustrating in our approach and style of play. I appreciate we had some injuries but at times we became slightly predictable and teams really worked us out. We didnt have an answer for this in many games, perhaps down to player availability and choice, but also tactically.

My view is the manager is responsible for tactics with the players at his disposal...

I don't think we can say that without knowing the board's intentions here. If their intention is just to hover around mid table whilst capitalising financially with big money sales of players such as Shaw/Lallana etc, then I don't blame MP for buggering off.

Well we dont know for sure, but to be fair his job is to manage the team and deal with what he has to some extent.

I manage a team in my company and I dont go getting all pissy when I dont get my own way and leave when they tell me there is no Lavazza in the coffee machine and it has been replaced by Nescafe!

To be fair you have a good point, but it just coud be that his expectations were also unrealistic.

I would believe most fans would want us, having been down the administration route previously, to be run efficiently to ensure the future of the club - and to continue to promote youth. A club like Spurs cant spend £50m each season going forward and as far as I am aware they dont have an academy remotely close to ours...

For me, I am happy if he stayed and happy if he goes - currently it says nothing about our Board or plans until we see who we get and what they have to play with.
