Joel, I can assure you we will get behind him and hope he is a success, but its just a fact there isn't a sense of excitement with the appointment. I mean you never found many fans cracking open champagne when Redknapp signed Adebayor but he (Adebayor) want onto have a fantastic season. If Pochettino is good enough then there will be no issue, and I hope he is a success, and I hope he brings us exciting football. We will judge him on what he does for us and how he manages us and he has the benefit of walking into a club which is desperate to forget the boredom of AVB.

I know it was a long time ago now and things have changed since then, but I seem to remember that Alan Ball had to get permission from the board to speak Man City. Rumour has it he was expecting a no, and accepted the City job partly because he drew the conclusion that, in giving permission to talk to another club, Saints undervalued him. I'm not drawing any parallels with Pochettino's circumstances by the way, just pointing out that that was the protocol back then.

You want to wait until 4 weeks before the new season starts to appoint a new manager?

I find the lack of excitement (and the desire for De Boer/Benitez et al instead) utterly bizarre. It suggests to me that Spurs fans didn't watch much football at all last season.

Would certainly be happier with any of those than most of the bookies' favourites. Not sure where you're going with this gloating angle though, that's the second time you've used it in a totally different context to the one I objected to.

If it means we get a better one then yeah. Players wont be back till after anyway. Why appoint one from a small scrapheap when many more will be available.

I like the look of Paco Jemez too, though I don't know enough about any of them to really have a preference.

I had you down as my surprise team of the season (before the season started), top 8 finish and I have watched your team and been impressed. It has nothing to do with basing it on the football Southampton have played under Pochettino.

I also had no interest in the fat waiter (Rafa) and viewed De Boer as a massive risk.

Can't leave it that long, we are unstable as it is. No manager until after the World Cup would basically tell the players we have no idea what we are doing at all.

    Tuchel - Mainz
    Yakin - Basel

Both have done an excellent job on limited resources. Both extol a playing style not dissimilar to MPs. With a fair wind it would be a relatively smooth transition for all involved.

Why would you not base your level of interest on the football Southampton have played under Pochettino? What are you basing it on? Fashion sense? Ability to speak English? Previous international record?

That is good if we appoint one of these two then.., That's my biggest fear.. A manager coming in and completely trying to change our playing style. I want to continue how we play.. Or I fear the worse.

Tuchel - finished 8th (I think) with what should really have been a relegation candidate in Mainz. Fans I've spoken to love the guy and say he's better than Klopp.

Yakin - Everthing you've seen of Basel for the past few years.

Does that mean next season Spuds will go down and we'll stay up on goal difference? It might just be worth the stress :)

A million quid says it's based on how he hasn't won anything as a manager.

Spurs win stuff all the time, don't you know.
