As gutted as I am, he looks a gonner.

Next Southampton Manager sees Gus Poyet as the favorite at 5/1
Then .....

Dan Petrescu 6/1
Neil Lennon 6/1
Then Malky Mackay, Di Matteo and Sherwood are the front runners.

What a **** Bank holiday.................

Neil Lennon out of that lot please. If we get Poyet I will be truly dismayed.

Murat Yakin is way out in front on Betfair.

Not sure it's really triumphalism PTF. It's pretty clear that DTLW would like MP to stay as much as the next acronym.

Is it? He's been compiling a list of new managers for so long he's down to Felix Magath! <laugh>

He's not the only one, or the worst offender by any means. Dan's attack on "all the people who are slowly but surely having to open their eyes and take their fingers out of their ears" is the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Whatever you might think, you don't have to have your eyes shut and your fingers in your ears to believe he would stay. We're not party to all the facts, so what exactly is wrong with evaluating the situation based on the information that we do have? How is it preferable to jump to conclusions weeks ahead of time, based on gut feeling, and then when, more by luck than judgement, you are proven right, lording it over the people who quite legitimately questioned you?

At least if you have to do it, come back when it's actually been confirmed.

Attack? Come on PTF. You'll have him arrested next. :)

Similarly, there's a difference between the people who believed it was more likely he'd stay but by no means certain, and the people who were stubbornly and loudly cried that no matter what, nobody was leaving.

I like the use of the word "attack" though. We'll get you a job at a red top in no time!

isn't he one of the brothers who played for switzerland? surely that's a lazy link.

i'm sticking with petrescu.

Older brother of Hakan Yakin. It makes sense as he was linked with Spurs last year I believe, and his style of play at Basel is similar to ours.

Indeed, though I struggle to think of anybody who did that.

It does look like a lazy link. But he did part company with Basel just over a week ago. And he's 12/1 with betvictor, even money on Betfair, so I'm tempted to try and make a profit out of this sorry business.

I just don't see anyone 'lording it', but perhaps that's just me.
