can't find it right now. it was something about the board not committing to keep players and you pointed out some of ralph or les's interview that proved me wrong.

rest assured i'm not having a dig.

Oh ok, assumed it was a reference to something more recent, but couldn't think what. <ok>

We are a good side...we aren't a team of only 2 players. I would back us to win games if Luke and Adam were sick.
who knows what a different manager might do to change the way we play, but as things are, I'm worried about starting next season without lallana because apart from lambert he's our only creative outlet.

Indeed, I'd hope Jay will stay too - but I was told a while back by someone close to the Rodriguez family that Mauricio absolutely loves Jay and has said to them before that Jay is a player he would very happily work with again should he ever leave Saints, which suggests Mauricio may have known he was off for a while.

Alternatively it could have just been a nice throwaway compliment to the family of one of his players.

Jim White just said on SSN that Spuds job may be too good for MP to turn down. If he goes there, Les should just pull him aside in the corridor and make one statement. "You go fella, good luck, but don't bother making a phone call here for any players; the answer will be no"

That seems like an absolutely bizarre thing to say off the cuff. Not like him to give that much away.

It also seems pretty incredible that he would drop such a big hint to Rodriguez's family that he was leaving without any of the players or club staff having any idea.

Should Les tell that to the players to?

I mean not hardly spending anything(even with player sales)

Is that a legit possibility or just an idea you're throwing out there?

If we bring in £50m-plus in transfer fees on top of the £80m(ish) we get from TV rights and hardly spend any money on transfers then I'd say questions should be asked about where that money is going.

Why? She owns the club, has already invested and can surely do as she pleases with the money. She can buy a bleedin big boat if she so wishes and pays the right taxes.

You're right he hasn't said anything to that effect, but on the other hand he hasn't said anything to indicate he can't be persuaded to stay either. Fair to say he doesn't like to give much away.

Is it fair to speculate that it's nothing to do with Saint's side of the deal, and more to do with better options available to him or am I way off base there? I mean, unless you are one of the biggest clubs in the world, then your players and staff will always be part of the food chain.
Whether or not Spurs is a big step up is another debate, but what I am getting at (badly, admittedly!) is maybe we are debating about MP staying or not depending on promises/assurances being made to him when in fact it could just be down to the fact he considers another club being a better option for his career.

At the moment? A legit possibility.

That's exactly the reaction I had to it as well, PTF.

But I know for a fact this person knows Jay. He has got them complimentary tickets to Saints and Burnley games, and I've even seen photos (back in about October time on their social media accounts) of them with him and his family round their house and with Jay in the players lounge etc.

Yes I think that is fair. If he has his heart set on managing Spurs (for reasons I'm obviously not aware of), then all the assurances in the world wouldn't keep him here, so I don't think it's wise to draw too many conclusions about ambition, etc, until we see what happens over the whole close-season.
