That's a key point. For all the inexperience of Liebherr and Krueger, we have football experts at the club. Consider Swansea as a comparison. They have faced exactly this situation several times in the last few seasons, but have continued to progress in the right way.

Good point on Swansea, albeit they have had the same chairman throughout.

And whilst on the subject of Swansea, I do know a few Saints fans who wouldn't mind Laudrup as MP's replacement, if he leaves.

We do. But the combination of Liebherr, Krueger and those experts is a situation where, according to Blackmore, none of the players have the slightest idea what is going on, something reinforced by the fact that a great many of them have felt the need to issue pleas to the board through the media. We have the undeniable air of a team that is severely lacking in direction from the top, something that could never be said about Swansea under Huw Jenkins.

Laudrup is yet to be signed up by a team at present despite himself saying he has had offers. If Poch and co want to go, let them, appoint Laudrup in quick-ish fashion and give him the funds from players that leave.

It's interesting that if we did do that, Laudrup would most likely be walking into a very similar situation as he did at Swansea. On the back of a great season, they had lost to Rodgers as manager, and Allen and Sinclair as players. And he still ended up doing a fair job there (until the Europa League hit them in his second season, but no doubt the same would happen to us were we to qualify, unless we had substantial investment. I don't see that as much of a blight on his time there).

To be honest I don't think we can stop the players going even if MP remains as manager. Adam wants Champions League footy, and Luke will be doubling his weekly wage (maybe more) - even if the manager stays we can't give the players what they want. I hope that's not the case, and that everyone stays etc but we must be realistic.

I just want that whatever is to happen, happens as quickly as possible, and we can move forward. If it is with everyone still involved then great, if not then there is a fair bit of work to do and we need to start addressing that as soon as possible. It won't be the end of the world if personnel leave by any means, disheartening sure, but not the end of the world!

Very hard to judge. First season you cant argue against his success. You could argue their cup involvements killed him off in the following seasons.

Could be a gamble, but then hadn't Poch been sacked by espanyol when we signed him. In terms of working with what we've got and going forward he's certainly got to be up there if Poch goes.

true, but all the players in question (bar lovren i think) have said to the press that they want to see or are hopeful of investment in the playing side and keeping the manager.

poch hasn't said anything (looking forward to PTF correcting me again) that would indicate he can be persuaded to stay for any reason, other than to say that he has a contract, which krueger helpfully reminded us is meaningless.

So what if Pochettino is leaving because the board don't want to continue to invest how they have been?

the logical conclusion would be a swift loss of super ambitious players and then a gradual loss of the players with medium-high ambition, I would think.

disruption of the team for several years while it pans out. then who knows.

    When have I corrected you?

You're right he hasn't said anything to that effect, but on the other hand he hasn't said anything to indicate he can't be persuaded to stay either. Fair to say he doesn't like to give much away.

Well. they seemed pretty clear fairly early that there wouldn't be a big spending spree.

Anyway, what about Paul Clements from Real; he said he fancies a chance in the UK. Big gamble, but might be able to bring about a Welshman and a couple of other Madrid misfits

I have no reason to believe that Kreuger isn't a lovely person (in fact, people on the bike ride said he was) but I absolutely hate management speak....lots of words, covering all bases, but in the end saying nothing at all. Made even worse when he knows nothing about football...not essential to be a managing director, but essential if you are going to talk about football.

It may not last that long, as if that happened over a few seasons, we would possibly be in danger of slipping out the Premier League.

His insistence on speaking Spanish is great to use against the media, but it has also been used to avoid giving answers that fans want to hear. Bet his linguistic skills improve markedly next season.

can't find it right now. it was something about the board not committing to keep players and you pointed out some of ralph or les's interview that proved me wrong.

rest assured i'm not having a dig.

Still enough quality for us to be a good team; shame that the 'ambition' would have dropped, however and this may be the big kicker... maybe, they want to keep us sustainable financially and that might mean lower levels of spending. If that is true and is really needed, then I will be disappointed it is the end of the exciting ride, but also pleased that they want to maintain the longevity of the club.

Without really knowing all the facts and finances, or the owners real plans, then we can't say.

We are a good side...we aren't a team of only 2 players. I would back us to win games if Luke and Adam were sick.
