With all due respect to the various people involved, Man U didn't rate him enough to keep him, playing well for Hartlepool is hardly pulling up trees. His Dad may well have little or no influence on where he goes, Pearson may be a better or worse judge of ability than the people at Man U. We may not have been interested, or he may not have been interested in us. If so that may be because he rates/likes Pearson, doesn't rate/like Steve Bruce, thinks Leicester have better facilities or that he'll get in their first team more easily. He may hate the Allams, or have a girlfriend in Leicester. Who knows? or cares? The fact is he has moved on, and so should we. Has anyone got any viable rumours about who we may sign, rather than who we are definitely not? Oh, and good luck to Jack.
Could be. But i dont think he is ready for the PL yet. Hr could well end up going out on loan next season from Lesta.
Lot of bullshit about Nick Barmby on this thread , you only had to watch his performances on the pitch to know how committed he was to the club , an ex England International near the end of his career and he used to run around like a teenager Happy Tiger you are clueless about football as well as many other things , you probably weren't a fan then though
What bothers me is the way some 'City fans' feel the need to make out St Nick has black and amber blood, and how he always wanted to play for his home town club, you know when he wasn't, and didn't until the very end of his career, and that he took some massive paycut (despite it not being the money) ans omitting how much he DID actually get. Yet bottom line is, he seems prepared to do the very thing the majority of the real fans who oppose Dr Allam won't do, i.e. keep supporting and watching the club which is in their DNA. The whole one of our own thing sticks in my throat is all, he left us until the end of his career, and now appears totally done with us. Threads like this pop up and people make insinuations that its probably his dad keeping him away. I enjoyed watching him play for us, even if he was clearly a lot slower, he still had a good footballing mind and vision, I even likened his passing to Beckham, he did a job for us, he got paid. As one of our own, Deano for me stands head and shoulders over Barmby. The whole manager thing was messy and neither side came out of it with any credit, but as a Hull City fan, I can say we ended up in a better place, with a better manager. As a Hull City fan I don't understand why he can't either let it go, or just ignore the Allams and at least support the club he was claimed to, especially as we're now experiencing what passes for us as huge success. So **** off with the 'True Fan' bollocks.
A teenager? Get to ****. I watched him, he wasn't anything like a teenager, if he was, he wouldn't have had the vision that masked it. I know, you can't diss St Nick, especially when the CI mongs are about. I was definitely a fan then, were you? Want to compare Dads or sommat?
Some of our fans are a disgrace the ****e they come out with. Barmby should be seen as a club legend who helped us up the leagues on and off the pitch. This is why I don't bother with forums anymore, too many clowns talking out of their arses
Nick Barmby was 30 when he joined us and he played for eight years, so self evidently wasn't at the end of his career, he could have got a better deal than the one he got from us. A couple of years before he joined us, he was still playing for England, the 5-1 win over Germany was only three years before joined us. He's one of the best players we've ever had and his commitment to the team was obvious, it was on a par with Ash and Deano. What ever anyone's thoughts are about his abilities as a manager, questioning his commitment on the pitch is pathetic.
Yes Nick was committed to the club as he was to his other clubs. He was an excellent professional. But love the club, nah not in his make up. As for Lincolns query he did an interview years back where he said, no he wouldnt watch City he'd watch Hull FC as he's a fan of them. bit weird making out Jack Barmby is some big signing we've missed out on. He's one of hundreds of released players, his old man has probably used connections to get him fixed up. I dont expect him anywhere near their first team squad. Who knows if he will kick on, maybe maybe not. Man U certainly didnt think so. Good luck to the lad.
Don't forget there is a strong link between NB and NP going back to their Boro days and it was NP who made NB a coach at city. Plus there is the universally recognised lack of development facilities at City. I remember NB saying in an interview after our PL relegation that he was annoyed we had received all that PL money and not left a legacy of better training / development facilities. Good luck to Jack a third generation footballer.
Oh they did, thats why they cost money. You should have used Alex Bruce as a perfect example of a Man U player being released for nowt. They know **** all at that Man U I mean look how well Alex has done
Fair point Chazz, though no doubt some posters would also pick him up for this, when many if not most of our players will have other favourite clubs. I can't fathom why Nick comes in for so much nonsense from some posters when he seemed to my eyes to give his best for the club and retired from playing to reluctantly manage the club. Certainly, in comparison to one or two who clearly came here for the money and couldn't give a feck about our club.
To be fair, they didn't release Pique, they flogged him for £5m when he was still fairly young and the Pogba one was a bit of a **** up, they didn't want him to go.
He seemed extremely reluctant to accept the manager's job. Pressured no doubt by his employers. Remember how so many fans swooned about the lovely passing football we played? Probably the same fickle turds now who rubbish him as a manager...
Peter Taylor recently described Nick Barmby as the best professional footballer he has ever worked with. Happy, I know you're no stranger to making yourself look a ****, but you are stretching the boundaries here.
Pressured Nick Barmby!!! GTF Throughout Nicks career Nick has done what Nick and his mrs have wanted to do. Pele was a greater player but Brazil fans love Garrincha more. Same with Nick and Deano.
