I'm sorry but I just will never understand this mentality.

If we do well, it's dumb luck. If we don't, it's because we've got a crap manager.

Whilst we weren't in the interviews, nor know the list of candidates, what evidence is there to support the choice of Adams, over say Malky, Zola or Garcia? Adams may talk a good game, but that's all it is, talk.

He has no championship experience, in fact his senior experience is limited to 5 games. Never mind trivial things like actually getting a club promoted.
He's never signed a player.
He's never had to convince a player to stay.
He's never had to manage egos
He won't have paid any serious attention to the championship for several seasons.
I could go on but it's not worth it.

I'm still trying to decide whether Adams or Tim Sherwood would have been the worst possible appointment.

If you don't understand it then say the reasons that made our board come to this decision over the many who would have been available.

You make decisions on the evidence, if you don't then you are relying on luck, if you fail then it is because you are stupid for ignoring the evidence.

Now i said it last season and ile say it again the board definitely has to be held responsible this time! what a ****ing joke, im sorry but as others have said Neil is a great bloke but we just had one them and being a nice bloke doesnt win you anything, talk about 3rd options, cant do him any good for his confidence either, see you in league one next season!

the key decisions now involve who becomes technical director and most importantly of all, who adams surrounds himself with coaching wise because lets be honest, he's going to need a lot of experience in the backroom staff.

thinking about it a little more clearly, i think adams is first team coach rather than manager (although he'll obviously be titled that), so a slightly different setup and not one that i'm keen on sadly.

Like others, I don't understand this decision, but the Board bears full responsibility for making it. If it works and City win promotion, then they will be vindicated, but if we don't the fault will lie fairly and squarely with the Board. What I won't do is cherry pick individuals to blame if it goes wrong. The whole Board has made the decision 'unanimously' and therefore the responsibility is shared throughout whether it goes right or wrong.

The first test is how many players stay. If Adams can persuade enough of them to stay then there may be some hope. They know him and his methods and might buy into it. If they don't, however, it will be a case of rebuilding from scratch with the new squad trying to gel under an inexperienced manager. I sincerely hope it works out and we push for promotion. Right now, I'm having difficulty seeing that happen and I think we are entitled to more of an explanation than we have received so far.

First sensible post on this thread.
Yes we all wanted a high profile manager with masses of experience but just take a moment and stop to think how these guys got there break in the first place?
In Adams we have a guy who bleeds yellow& green, who's played for us coached us and finally managed us.
I for one would want a "city" man in charge if things get rough rather than someone who's just here for the wedge!
He spotted problems highlighted by many on here last season and tried to rectify them, Bassong for one? The players had less fear.
We'll now be against poorer quality opposition this season, not every mistake results in a goal in the champ like it seemed to happen in the prem?
Ask Watford fans and Burnley fans what they thought of Malky or Dyche?
Both looked like gambles, both came off!
Until it happens don't let's go down the road of making this season any harder than it's going to be ?
We've got to get behind Adams and what ever team he assembles and see where it takes us !
OTBC
COME ON NEIL PROVE TO US WE KNOW **** ALL ABOUT FOOTBALL

Blimey anyone would think we have just appointed Neil Tennent rather than Neil Adams from the over dramatic reactions.

Yes, ok, it's not the most inspirational choice maybe but it is the choice of the board after a rigorous selection process.

Zola? Great player, done very little as a manager. Would have been a poor choice.
Lennon? Odious, contemptible man. Glad we've swerved him.
Mackay? Would have been a safe pair of hands. Maybe wanted too much money, maybe going to West Brom, maybe going to Celtic, maybe wanted too big a transfer fund. Who knows.
Sherwood? Bit of a gamble, suspect he will end up at Brighton.

The point here surely is that the board have decided that Adams is the man to take the club forward and we have to trust in their judgement. It's frankly absurd that any of us should think we are better placed to decide who the best man for the job is than the people who have interviewed the candidates.

I for one am fully behind the new manager, and fully behind my team.

whatever our views, we all have to get behind him and the team because we cannot have another season of infighting like the last one. it only makes things worse. hopefully we'll make a good, positive start - that'll be the only way to get people singing from the same hymn sheet <ok>

Well the delay infers that he wasn't first choice, but having waited this long surely they could of done better. The only other possible explanation is that those players that the board trust, Russ for example have really strongly endorsed Adams. Little can be taken from the last 5 games but really if they ever thought Adams up to the job why not January? I just can't get my head round this. The board must know how the fans, press, everybody is gonna see this. Unambitious and small time. Has their insistence that NA work with the new manager put off candidates? They're all a funny bunch, with their working pods! It can only be player input, it's the only possible rationale.
For the record, I don't like the appointment, but I don't think it's a forgone conclusion. That it will go wrong. I think we can still do well with Adams and wrong decision or not, I'm predicting 5th. Underwhelmed but optimistic even in the face of an oddand cheap decision. I just think Adams will get a squad together with the right mental attitude. (then I guess all managers aim for that!)
Look on the brightside, City of ale has just started and we're gonna win the league!

Bah!

Bah!

Neil Adams is the person who just happened to be left over and was cosiest with the board, and no, we do not have to trust their judgement.

Our board are hardly known for there judgement. Our Club recent success has been built primarily on the work of one good manager and McNally. The others have been a shambles.

From the way Radio Norfolk were talking earlier this evening, it was expected that Adams' backroom staff would be made of people he's already familiar with. Mark Robson was a name mentioned.

Over the shock of it...........the question is now which players are going to jump ship? to many and its a total rebuild which will effectively give us a lesser chance of competing, in hindsight if we can keep the bulk of this team together, the manager and some experienced backroom staff we have a good chance, so who are the additions behind NA???

many will leave. probably more than would have had mackay come in for example

"Their" judgement <ok>
