The new Barclays Premier League season will start on the weekend of 16th/17th August. Fixture lists for the 2014/15 season will be announced on Wednesday 18th June. As a result of finishing as #FACup Runners-Up, we will enter the @EuropaLeague at the Third Qualifying Round. The draw for the @EuropaLeague Third Qualifying Round will take place at UEFA Headquarters, Nyon, Switzerland on Friday 18 July 2014. The Third Qualifying Round ties will be played on the following dates: 1st Leg â Thurs 31 July 2014 | 2nd Leg â Thurs 7 August 2014.
This also means that we have a two round bye in the League Cup as well. Straight into Round 3 with the other 6 PL teams in Europe.
I was thinking about that.... The League Cup draw is made very early - normally before the league fixtures - so the number of games to arrive at the 32/16/8/4/2 formula will be made before we know our fate in the Europa League. So I'm guessing we get the bye even if we don't make the group stages.
Courtesy of Hull2009 on CI... We will not get a tough draw in the 3rd qualifying round. We will be a seeded team in the draw and playing a team from the list below providing those teams make it through the previous two qualifying rounds. Tromso Sivasspor Motherwell Brondby Zorya Luhansk Mlada Boleslav Eskisehirspor AIK Stockholm Litex Lovech Hapoel Kiryat Shmona Ekranas Panevezys Astra Giurgiu Petrolul Ploiesti Vojvodina Novi Sad Dinamo Minsk St. Polten SV Grodig FH Hafnarfjardar IFK Göteborg There are 10 other unseeded teams still to be confirmed for the 3rd round qualifiers. The 58 teams in the qualifying round are split into 5 groups before the draw is made. We will only be drawn against an unseeded team from whichever of the 5 groups we are allocated to.
I have been to both Goteborg and Stockholm which are nice places, wouldn't mind going there. Have been to Tromso, too far north and not a lot there. At least Motherwell have a naturalised Yorky in charge.
Only if we are still in the europa league do we miss round 2 of the coc. Round 3 is the last week in september. Tromso(Norway) is another place i would not mind us going to.
Not n the qualifiers, we should be able to beat them fairly straightforwardly but they're good enough to be a banana skin.
Looking at the list of potential teams we have a very good chance of making the group stages. That being so then our last 2 PL games in august will be sunday fixtures at least. Monday if sky want us on the MNF.
