Assuming the £100m is correct (and I'd be surprised), that'd have to cover new wages too right? That wouldn't actually get you that many top top players which is obscene! I'd have a slight nerdgasm if we signed Ibrahimvic though! I know he'd want ridiculous money but he's so damn good it'd be worth it, if only for a season or two!
The thing is, we were a counter-attacking team during our last period of success. At home the impetus on attack is rightly on us, but away from home, we should seek to sabotage the game of our opponent, make it hard for them and hit them on the counter. Of course it's easier to do this when you have a lot of pace in your team. Apart from Walcott, we don't have much in our attack. This should also be addressed in the summer.
mmm , imagine if you will , Ibrahimovich , fed by Ozil and Ramsey . the shirts you would sell alone would pay his wages .
Yeah. I can dream. Here's his Top 10 goals from this Season. (He scored 47 in Total)
Assuming that's true, is it £100m to spending on transfer fees or does it including wages etc too? The media are ****ers for including that in their calculations nowadays. On a slightly different note, why would Arsenal / Wenger announce to the world how much they have to spend? There will be a automatic "Arsenal tax" for any player you go for now.
Personally I think it's a hypothetical figure. One of the supporters groups is always saying we have £100 million plus in the bank so I think the media get it from there
Wenger's not perfect - nobody is. But you will wait a long time before you get another manager anywhere near as good so I'd enjoy it while it lasts.
I feel Cym does have a point with this post. I wonder also if there are any team in the top 4/5 with a divided fan base as much as ours? I walked in to the office today, rather than the usual congratulatory greetings, I was met with how long before you lot start asking for him to be sacked..... They do have a point I think. I wonder if this division is actually good or not? Personally, I feel the core of the fan base feel that the team has finally delivered, (ok we got spanked a few times this season), would I have taken CL qualification and winning the FA Cup? Too right I would have taken this at the start of the season! I slept like a baby on Saturday.... Even watched the re-run on ITV Player last night!
That's a good way of putting it. It all really depends on the summer, if he finally addresses the squad's weaknesses, then maybe some in the WOB camp (like me) will start having to question our positions. My main fear is that the trophy could have an inverse effect, and Wenger decides the squad is good enough and doesn't sign what we need.
I think he will address the weaknesses, but knowing him he probably will not do it in a way everyone expects, or the way everyone is happy about. We will be arguing on here come September, absolutely no doubt in my mind.
As I said the AKB/WOB argument has been done to death and whether some fans like it or not Wenger is going to be around for a few more years now.On the split in the fan base there is nothing wrong with criticism and debate but some of the abuse directed at Wenger on social media certainly crossed then line
This was the ever bitter Stewart Robson. He went on to say that players don't leave Arsenal for money, they leave because they can't improve at Arsenal and have to move on to develop into better players. I'm thinking Stewart Robson is almost on a par with Mourinho for non sensical attention seeking....
