How do you know he was never looking to improve? In my opinion that is a stupid thing to say. How do you know how much work he was putting in? Were you there every day in training? You don't know, so why make these ridiculous allegations? Oh right, you saw him play so you made a few assumptions and you know what they say about those. Have you got a degree in hindsight? We can all be clever arses AFTER the event!!! Quite obviously I was referring to his track record BEFORE he joined us and 14 goals in 24 games for the Spanish "junior" sides was a terrific return by anyone's standards. With that record, in my opinion, it was a worthwhile gamble. Understand what I'm saying? It was a worthwhile gamble. I didn't say his time with us was worthwhile, obviously it wasn't and, as I said in my closing sentence, "shame it didn't pay off". It's all there if you take the trouble to read it properly.
Pot, Kettle, Black. You've been harping on about Laudrups sacking since the hour it happened. A little longer and a half of all Google search returns for the word will apply to your posts.
After the cup win we were diabolical. Clubs show no loyalty to a manager when his performance is a crock of ****, do hang on to glories past is not a way to run a club. He was terrible for 38 games, a whole seasons worth of matches. We needed a new manager to pick up where Laudrup started to fail.
All I said was laudrup did a great job with Routledge and then you went off on your ungratefulness , like usual , toward Laudrup .Look on the bright side though , you r not the only one with the ungratefull trait .
Seems a number of players are enthusing over Monk's appointment. That could be interpreted a number of ways on this board though! But we all know Dai is a special case
I'm grateful for the first 7 months and thankful the last 12 months ended when it did, in February. Had ML stayed I'm pretty sure we'd have got relegated and disintegrated as a club. ML would have left and we'd be dumped in the championship. This is all conjecture of course, but that's what I think would have happened if ML had stayed.
I am not sure we would have gone down. I think we had enough quality in the squad to have picked up the odd win here or there. Which is exactly what GM has done.
I don't want to stifle debate at all, it's what forums are all about. But am I the only one amazed that the Monk v Laudrup debate is still raging here? Knock yourself out guys but it's done whether we like it or not and it's now up to us to get behind the new Manager and hope that some of us are wrong about his appointment. I'l be first in the queue to say I was wrong if he does the business. But you do realise that we'll have to tell Daiswan he was right.
Just after he was sacked I posted to say that it hadn't surprised me. However, what DID surprise, and disappoint me, was the way the Club had gone about it. I used the word "shabby" to describe it. I stick by that, they behaved shabbily. What depresses me most about the whole affair,is the gratuitous insults and abuse that some display towards Laudrup. Also a total lack of appreciation for ANYTHING that he achieved during his tenure. It's Martinez, and Rodgers all over again. Michael Laudrup was a great man when he came here, and he was still that when he left. Nothing any of his detractor's can say/write will alter that. He is a man of great integrity, and Swansea City were extremely fortunate that he took up the managerial role at the Club. Many thought he was too good for the Club, and I can see some justification in that remark having been made. History, hopefully, will be a lot kinder to Michael Laudrup than his most vociferous critics here have been, and are still being.
Not going to happen,Dragon. If/when Monk falls on his face,Dai will turn up shouting "I told you so".
I've said time and time again that I've had a titful of the debate, but I still end up getting back into it
I can't even give credit for what Laudrup did for Routledge without him or me being attacked .Someone said Rory didnt get a chance as a Rodgers transfer . All I said neither did Routledge till Laudrup molded him perfectly . I dont hate Monk , but a lot of people hate Laudrup , no matter what he did for us , pitiful really .
I am in neither camp. I can see why he was sacked. But, I also believe we would have still been in the PL if he had stayed.
Fair enough, Project. Done that a few times myself. As you say, he never looked like improving, unfortunately.
