Signed a new contract and said he is not going anywhere, neither is Draxler who said he will not leave schalke this year. Guessing this why we are being linked to new DM's and WF's.
If Carlos came back, Theo got fit, and Joel Campbell comes into the squad there will be plenty of pacy, goalscoring widemen to start the season with (Theo, Pod, Ox, Vela, Campbell, Miyaichi). Let them fight it out for positions until Christmas, then maybe send two on loan come January? The Metro were re-reporting reports from Spain
****ing Hell, every transfer window we're linked with Kalou. He was **** even when he was supposed to be good, **** knows how crap he must be now.
I'll be really ****ed off with Sagna if he does sign for City. Not only will he be leaving for a direct rival but he's unlikely to displace Zabeleta and the whole thing stinks of money grabbing happy to sit on the bench bollocks
Don't really care about Sagna leaving, he's past it anyway. His crosses always hit the first man and he is often caught out of position.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if he goes to City. It's been obvious for ages that Arsenal won't give him what he wants. It's a chance for a large pay packet and he'll likely pick up a couple of medals in the next couple of years. He's been a great servant for Arsenal - quiet, professional, and always given his best.
Yeah I'd be disappointed but not surprised at such a move. I'd not lose my respect for Sagna but, like Clichy, I'd cease giving two f*cks about him. I'd be gutted if we signed Kalou. For far less money we can get ourselves Vela back and even should he not work out (again) you could easily flog him abroad the following season for a tidy profit. Still hearing rumors about Aurier too and our supposed bid. He's made the Ivory Coast squad too at the expense of Eboue so we may get to see him in action this summer.
www.bbc.com/sport/football/27432814 - not sure I agree with this. Unless Barca came in for him since they need depth with Xavi getting on, I can't see too many teams bigger or better than Arsenal who are crying out for a top midfielder...except Man Utd
Great players are always in demand regardless of if they are needed. We signed Ozil because he was available even though AM was the last position we needed to fill. That being said Ramsey has had one great year. If he continues his rise next year his stock and therefore demand will rise.
Why be annoyed with Sagna?? It's these archaic strategies employed by Wenger that has caused him to leave. Arteta has just critised Arsenal for not offering proper deals for players over 30. It's the same issue we are talking about again here. Sagna is worthy of a high paycheck - it makes sense on every level to give him one. He is also deserving of a deal longer than 1 year (which is in all probability the main stumbling block here) Our manager still treats players in their 30's like their career is over but modern sports science just disproves this theory. Players are remaining at the top level for longer than ever thanks to nutrition and improved medical care. If Sagna goes I'll be annoyed at Wenger. Not Sagna.
Didn't we as a club already rethink the 1 year contract thing and start offering two year contracts to older players? Rosicky being the first example? From what i hear Sagna wants a 3 year deal and we have offered 2 years plus he wants more money. Without knowing the inner workings of the negotiations i think its difficult for us to adequately judge the club or player on it though.
I agree. Our dealings with over 30s is a little too conservative in my opinion. Sagna has been our most dependable and least injury prone players, so offering him a 3 year deal makes total sense. If we sell him then we have to go through the process of finding someone, blooding him into the team/Premier league and fork out a large transfer fee. Really not worth the bother as we already have a top class RB playing for us.
