It's not hard to play more killer passes than Schneiderlin, Cork and Wanyama. Davis has been one of the most frustrating for me; he does a lot of things well, but keeping the ball isn't one of them. I hate to see a player, upon receiving the ball, put his head down and just run straight into a defender. He tries to force it forward quickly but he doesn't have the ability to take people on. Also if we want a central midfielder who can score and create goals (and we really, really do), Davis is the logical one to be dropped to the bench.
Someone like Gastón you mean? Think we all know who has done the better job for the team this season! Disagree with him losing the ball, I don't think he has the feet of say, Jack Cork, but he usually recycles possession effectively and has played some sublime passes this season (not just better than Cork and Vic but also better than Lallana and Lambert).
Having said that, I do agree that if we are to progress we need a flair/creative type player and eh could well be the one sacrificed.
