Linked to both Sanchez and di Maria today and I'd take both over draxler. I wouldn't say no to draxler who looks a quality prospect but we are currently being linked with two players who are the finished article and already proved themselves at the top level.
I agree with you. Personally I think Wenger should be looking to get in a player that is the finished article. We already have a good young core and Wenger isn't getting any younger. Time for him to benefit from the fruits of his labour!
I'd like us to sign a striker and wing forward who are the real deal. I think that's more important than a dm where we could also use an Arteta upgrade. We can challenge if we go for a few ready made players. As you say we already have a good core of youth. Mandzukic + Sanchez/di Maria + replacements for any out going players (Sagna/verm) + an Arteta upgrade if funds allow after the other business is done. That'd be an ideal summer. I'd also take cavani or benzema if they become available but see mandzukic as a more realistic option. Not sure who will be available at dm this summer as lars bender has signed a new contract and I'm not sure how much weight the Martinez being unhappy rumours hold. Maybe the other bender or a dm we haven't considered will pop up.
I'll put it out there and say that I've never been impressed by Di Maria when I've seen him play. Obviously I don't watch him week in, week out and if he plays regularly for RM then he can't be b*llocks but..meh. He just comes across as quite light-weight to me. I think he'd struggle with the rigors of the PL and barring Giroud we lack anyone who can put away crosses anyway (bar Ramsey volleys bosh!). But yeah, I freely admit to not watching him play much so he may well be awesome and I've just missed it.
As a wide man. Sanchez tends to get more goals so I would go with him over Di Maria. I would be very happy if we signed either though. Looks like Diego Costa is to Chelsea is going to happen so we can cross him off the hypothetical list.
According to the Liverpool board it looks like Suarez will be going to Madrid, which could leave the door open for Benzema to leave. There may actually be one or two quality strikers available.
If Madrid were to make a bid for Suarez I wouldn't mind betting that Benzema would be part of the deal.
If so then that would be a good bit of business from Liverpool. Benzema plus cash would be a great deal. If not then I can see Wenger stepping up interest.
Supposedly there is a 70mil release clause for foreign clubs that Madrid plan to trigger so no need for them to use players as part of the deal unless Liverpool are willing to sell for less.
Even if Vela didn't work out the club could still sell him back to spain for a decent profit So for that reason I'm pretty sure it will happen
He's had an excellent season - his second in a row - and won't be jaded by the World Cup as he wasn't picked by Mexico. As he was, on average, the most fouled player per game in La Liga last season you'd think he might also be more able to deal with the rigours of playing in England. £4m seems like a steal.
Come back Carlos!! Don't see any chance of Benzema swapping for Suarez. Swap deals always gert mooted but very rarely happen.
You struggle for years and years and finally you win people over. I just want to thank god, my parents, the many many people who helped me get here. Its been a long time coming. *Sniff Sniff*
