The great man has given an interview in Belgium today saying that he loved his time at Charlton, has had interest from Fulham and QPR in positions with them.....but that he has told RD that Charlton is his first choice and that he wants to be our manager.

Come on RD, pull your finger out and sign the man up.

Considering that it was Roland who brought him here in the first place I can't see any reason not to give him the job ASAP. I mean NOW!!

Maybe, on the strength of a few wins, JR has been emboldened to express his own opinions. Not at all what RD is looking for!

The great man? Get a grip Nick, he's done nothing except win a few games and got us out of trouble. He's not been unbeatable so obviously not that great.

I'd rate hime as fairly good so far, let's see what he can do over a season.

He's not great. Curbs was great. But he is what we need. He's now proven IMO. Given the chance to build a side I think we have a guy who could, dare I say it, challenge for promotion.

    Over to you, RD.

Well said. Riga did a great job. The interview was in French (it is on CL if someone can get the link), but he is quite clear- he wants to be our manager, and has told RD as much. We need a proper summer of planning & recruitment so get cracking !

It was obvious in his 'post match' after the Watford game that he wanted to stay.

I am shocked he or someone is not in place yet, as i think i have read that RD wants all the players coming in done and dusted by the end of June, so if its not JR then a new person needs to be in place see whats what, who we have who is going and get in on the buying in process

I wonder whetherthe fact that he's not in yet is because RD has someone else in mind? He was good enough to be given a go in march, and given his achievments (even at the most basic, he helped us avoid relegation) I'd have said he deserves another go now. Whatever, time goes by and until we get this part of the structure done, the rest goes on hold.
Come on RD, lets get busy.

I heard that the new Charlton coach is in a job at the moment and will only be available when the Belgian Season is finished. Personally I would love Riga to be given a two to three year contract. He deserved it after getting us out of the mess Powell put us in. Another change of Manager, in my opinion, will not do us any good.

Guy Luzon? I would rather continue with Riga. As others have said, he's built an affinity with the club and fans in a short time.

I don't know what type of man-manager Luzon would be but I fear he would undo the good work Riga has done. He strikes me as 'one of the lads' rather than the father figure Riga appears to be.

We definitely don't want a manager who sounds like a bloody cough sweet.

Much as I admired Chris Powell, based on Jose Riga's results and the team's performances since he was appointed, as said on another thread it would be churlish not to offer him another contract. He also managed to get back to back wins right at the end of the season and consistently turned round the losses to wins.

Dick, are you saying that JR will take over at SL and we will get the failed SL manager?

Palace/Fulham cross dresser & eternal try hard @RichCawley is reporting that there will be a decision on our new manager after the Belgian season has finished.

    Draw your own conclusions.
