If we are to be competing to get into the top six, we should try not to sell our players so easily to top six teams in the country. If we sell Adam, it suggests we don't have those ambitions. Even Spurs fights tooth and nail to avoid selling to a rival in the zone of the league they're aimg for (and I know that technically, top four isn't our zone, but 5-8 is, but still applies, I think); I hope we don't roll over on this.

Look at the way Lallana celebrates Lambert's goal against Man Utd. Does that look like a player that wants to leave?

Go to 1 minute 44 seconds

No, it looks like someone celebrating a goal.

If, hypothetically speaking, lallana does leave, could this be the ideal opportunity for Ramirez to step up?

Fitness has been the biggest issue with Gaston and although Lallana is a better overall player I would argue that Ramirez represents a bigger goal threat.

Keeping with the hypotheticals and we sold Adz then we could potentially sign that Rafa from Braga and we have been linked with Aaron Hunt who is available on a free. That would be three players competing for that CAM role and at the very least £10m in the bank. That may not improve us, but I think the squad would still be good enough for a comfortable mid table finish.

Naturally i'd sooner keep Lallana, but we only have hypotheticals

Exactly what I was thinking. He has struggled to get near the starting 11 this season but if Lallana were to leave, providing his fitness improves we have a ready made replacement in Gaston.

The Lallana money could then strengthen other areas/debts/training ground.

Hope he stays though.

The Guardian say it looks like Lallana will have to hand in a transfer request before Saints will sell.

Also being said Saints would then ask for £30m+.

Sod to how Adam celebrates the goal. What always amazes me is how the ball literally flies off Rickie's boot when he just strokes it. That's the sign of a player who knows how to strike a ball superbly.

And true, Adam looks pleased. :)

I wonder, should we read anything into the fact that the Guardian has (if I remember correctly) been the initial source of both the "Saints reject Shaw bid" and this? Could be wrong on that, but I'm curious whether they may be getting this stuff straight from the source.

That's the way to handle it. See I believe this news because it makes me feel better.

It's all rubbish until proven, but this rubbish smells sweeter.

Just remember to store up all those told you so's. Then have a splendid 10 minutes once the transfer window shuts.

Bit confused about the Liverpool fan's rant that they are bigger than Saints. Did anyone suggest otherwise? No? Anyone? Bueller? No.....thought not.
