How much was Andy Carroll again? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

If we're using the Carroll Scale for pricing then he's around 500m. :p

Carroll isn't a good example :p

Let's use Suarez, he was £24m, so do you think that Lallana is as good as Suarez? <whistle>

Suarez had only done it in Holland when you signed him. Players from Holland tend to have probably a less than 50% chance of succeeding in England, so that price tag obviously reflects that. If you were to buy him today he'd cost close to double that. So no, obviously, nobody thinks Lallana is as good as Suarez.

Just saying that Carroll isn't a good example, we obviously panicked as Torres had just left and we also had Comolli in charge of our transfers and he was ****. <laugh>

Don't think we'll buy Lallana anyway, we'd be foolish to for the price that you'd want for him and we desperately need to strengthen elsewhere first.

As so often with our players, they are worth more to us than to others. We need a huge amount for Adam because 25% goes to Bournemouth and then we need to replace him....how much is a quality midfielder these days? We would probably want enough to buy two players to make it worth our while. Would be different if we were in dire financial trouble but we are not...especially as our Katarina seems to have fallen in lurve with Southampton. Can only see this happening if Adam agitates for a move...not sure he has that in him to do. Our only real danger is that our new Chairman may be too reasonable about letting a player go if he really wants to. Even Nicola let Oxo go in the end.

Comolli also bought Suarez didn't he? :)

You're right, you would be foolish to buy Lallana for the price we'd ask. So why everyone seems so convinced it will happen is a mystery to me.

For me, one of the key reasons why Lallana has stepped up a level, this season, is due to his fitness.
Last season he had an injury or two and struggled to get to that level of fitness, at which he performs to his best.
Any club that takes him, will lose his effectiveness, if they think they can put him in the team one week, and take him out the next.
He's like Lambert, in this respect. Once he loses his peak match fitness, his effectiveness drops.

So, on that note, Lallana needs to play for a team, where he will be the first name on the team sheet, every game.
And that team is Southampton.

There is possibly the most reasoned sentence in all this weeks speculation.

On skysports they are saying according to the sun that Adam will leave for 20 m and will be a perfect fit to play with Suarez ....
Didn't this paper also say the other day Suarez is going to Real Madrid for €92???

If Suarez is up for sale at ninety two euros, we'd be crazy not to bid......

With all this talk of Adam etc, our old friend Gaston seems to have fallen to the side of the rumour mill. Do we think he'll still be a Saint at the beginning of next season??

Not sure he's done enough (due to injuries) to persuade anyone to make a decent bid. I suppose if he impressed in Brazil but somehow doubt it.
