Yeah let's reward a guy for taking over a relegation threatened club and turning them into a mediocre mid table club! <doh> What about Gus Poyet in that case or Paul Lambert or Mark Hughes! It has to be Brendan Rodgers simply for turning a big club in huge turmoil around and guiding them to their first top 4 finish in 5 years!

Baring in mind Palace were rock bottom when he took over, I don't really know what else he could have done. Would he only deserve Manager of the Year if he had got them into Europe? I don't understand how he could have done much better.

Rodgers has done a fantastic job this season, don't get me wrong but I just think Pulis has done better.
 
You cannot go around handing manager of the year awards to people of his ilk.

I'd personally go for Roberto Martinez or Brendan Rogers, both have made genuine improvements to their team and progressed their playing style whilst still getting results.

I'd probably plump for Martinez for turning them from a sows ear to a silk purse just through his own management.

It doesn't matter what Pullis does, he cannot help but play like a sows ear.

Not taking anything away from Rodgers, but having the best player who scores 30 odd goals kinda helps. Pulis took over another man's squad, a squad that looked woefully short of a Premiership one, and a squad that was looking relegation certainties rather than just "relegation threatened" and has performed miracles.

Not bitter because his lot cost you a grand last night are you chap? ;)

It's Rodgers' playing style that got Suarez 30 goals. I can think of at least one other manager who would not have got anywhere near that kind of return off Suarez.

Pulis has done well there but do Palace have the money to compete season after season like Stoke have ?
 
I think Brendan Rodgers deserves it because he needs something to put on his mantelpiece to remind him that he blew it - maybe I've spoken too soon. I think Liverpool have the fifth highest wage bill and turnover, so he has increased the place of his club by 3 places relative to income -maybe that should be the award -who does best with the money available?
 
It is all relative as to who is the best manager and it is certainly little to do with who wins the title. There should be an index for each team relating to value say and then the manager who adds the greatest value over the season should be the best for that year. I maybe haven't explained this very well but hopefully you get my drift. The problem with this idea is agreeing on a starting basis that is truly independent. At the end of the day, like this forum, it is all about opinions. For me Pulis has done remarkably well with what he inherited whereas Man. City have under-achieved whether they take the title or not.
