BBC Football "Premier League and Football League: Ups and downs" page says: English clubs have three places in the Europa League. As Arsenal have claimed a Champions League spot, it means their FA Cup final opponents Hull will enter in the group stage.

Think this is incorrect from previous posts, but can anyone confirm?

English clubs have three places in the Europa League. As Arsenal have claimed a Champions League spot, it means their FA Cup final opponents Hull will enter in the group stage.
The fifth-placed Premier League side, which is virtually assured of being Everton, will enter the play-off round, while the Capital One Cup winners (or in this case, the sixth-placed side, see below) will go into the Europa League third qualifying round.

This is correct. We are in the group stage.
We would have gone into the play-off round if Arsenal had finished 5th
Man City qualified by winning the league cup and so that place goes to the team that is 6th

No, it's wrong. (Depending on the final result, that is.)

No, it's wrong, you don't go into the group stage as runners up, only as winners.

"There are three places in the UEFA Europa League available: the FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage; the fifth place team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage; and the Football League Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage.
In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative. The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League."

Hull City will play European football next season.

The Tigers' qualification for the Europa League as FA Cup finalists was confirmed by Manchester City's 3-2 victory at Everton on Saturday evening.

That meant Hull's Wembley opponents Arsenal will finish fourth in the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League, thereby guaranteeing City a maiden adventure in Europe next season - whatever the result of the cup final.

However victory at Wembley on May 17 would see The Tigers go into the Europa League group stages in September, whereas entering as FA Cup runners-up would mean beginning the competition in the third qualifying round in July and early August.

    Arsenal = Play-off

    Europa League

As holders of the League Cup, Man City throw an extra place into the bag and and this moves us up to the group stages.

What did I say about posting bollocks? Spurs in 6th are the beneficiaries of Man City's League Cup win, not us. And we only enter at the group stage if we win the final - if we lose it, Everton get that slot, Spurs move up into the playoff round and we fall to the bottom of the English pile.

^ England (ENG): Everton have qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League, as they will finish fifth or sixth in the 2013–14 Premier League. Hull City have qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League, as they will play Champions League-qualified Arsenal in the final of the 2013–14 FA Cup. Their starting round will depend on whether they win the cup. If Hull City win the cup, they will enter the group stage. If Arsenal win the cup, Hull City will enter the third qualifying round, the sixth-placed team of the league will enter the play-off round, and the fifth-placed team of the league will enter the group stage.

So its me and the BBC then who are wrong!

The English FA have 3 Champions League places and 3 Europa League places.
    CL Group
    PL Champions
    PL Runners Up
    N3
    CL Play Off
    N4
    EL Play Off
    N5
    EL Qualifying
    N6
    Domestic Cup winners
    EL Group

I have changed it to winners and I do know that all along the view has been that we will enter at the qualifying stage, but my reading is that we qualify above the 5 and 6 placed clubs.

I believe that this is correct. If I am wrong then I am sorry. But until we enter the draw stages and the access codes are confirmed for next season that is how it looks.

Christ omega man, I pasted the ruling straight of the premier leagues own website. If you think that's wrong then look on UEFA's website - who's competition the Europa league is - and you'll see the same thing.

And your last post is very wrong, Engalnd has 4 champions league places.

Two two-legged ties to reach the group stage, if we lose the final.

Definitely wrong mate....plus, English footy is 5th in the Fair Play league which if we finish in the top 6 gives an extra Europa league spot

    PL Runners Up

The Access List for the 2014/15 Europa League only states that the Cup Winners go through to the Group stage but other countries have Cup Winners or Runners Up.
