" I guess this is what it feels like to be an Arsenal fan every season." You need a serious springtime PL collapse to get that feeling.
Well like I've said for a long time on this thread we got what we aimed for last august, a top 4 finish and CL football next season, yep I'm gutted that our slim chance of the title is gone but that's the life. Just like to thank HIAG for the entertainment he's given us this season, it must have been hard to laugh through the season of adversity and humiliation Spurs have had but fair play.
It wasn't a slim chance, it was in your hands with 3 games left. Play it down all you want, the rest of Anfield and the media wasn't already getting carried away, as usual. All you had to do was not lose to an under strength Chelsea at home and even we managed that against a full strength Chelsea. Anyway, it's all still to play for, Everton away is no easy 3 points for City and they showed against Sunderland that they're not in the kind of form they were midway through the season so the last 2 will be potential banana skins too. And lets not forget you're the neutrals' favourite, as crowned by neutrals Lawro and Aldridge. I'm sure Allardyce, Lambert and Martinez are relishing the chance to help Gerrard lift the Premier League title which will apparently unite both sides of Liverpool as well as the entire UK and no doubt bring peace to the entire World too.
If only YV, but fat Sam is a Fergie cult member and hates us by association and Martinez manages a club who's hardcore support has said they'd rather not qualify for Europe if it helps us not win the title(bitter and twisted). And yeah i m absolutely gutted after yesterday but as I said earlier the comfort blanket of a top4 finish is feeling nice and cosy.
I'm sure it is. I'm not saying for a second that I wouldn't rather be underdogs in the title race than scraping it out to finish 5th-7th, just that you were underplaying how big of a chance you had to win the league before the game yesterday. The rest was just taking the piss about some of the nonsense we've had to put up with in the media. To hear them talk you'd think Gerrard was a national hero that everyone desperately wanted to win the league. It doesn't fly, Shearer should have won much more than he did but he chose Newcastle over Man United and similarly Gerrard backed out of a move to Chelsea at the last minute. They only have themselves to blame if they were after trophies but being recognised as a great player should be more important to them, and being a club legend probably is more important to them. No one's going to remember John O'Shea and Wes Brown in 30 years, despite all their PL winners medals but Shearer and Gerrard won't be so quickly forgotten, even without so many titles.
Spot on mate. Its easy to say you've got medals but in some players cases(like djmi traore)they got it off the hard work/skill of others, individuals like those you mention are stand out players in weaker teams. Like for all the skill Cantona had he never won a CL but O'Shea(and our djimi)did.
There was nothing lucky about it, Smithy. It was meticulously planned. Not pretty, but perfectly executed.
I think Liverpool fans must all be as sick as parrots if they've given up this "given" PL Championship. If your all supposedly happy at "just" getting a CL place then your not the Liverpool fans I thought you were! Surely Liverpool and Everton haven't given up the ghost?
If Spurs' record since I've been supporting them is anything to go by, Liverpool are better off without me
"Surely Liverpool and Everton haven't given up the ghost?" If the Goons don't win tonight, then Everton still have a bit of hope for a CL slot.
I think it's the **** Newcastle team that'll give the points. They've not exactly been ripping up trees when he's been kept away.
Its supporters of other clubs that brainwashed themselves we were going to win it. If we do I'll let you know, you can count on it smithy.
Not me. I told you, right from the start, that you haven't got it in you to finish the job. That wasn't wumming. It was the truth, as you now know.
I hadn't realised that Liverpool couldn't win it anymore. Last time I looked they were on course to miss out by GD only - must've got that wrong?
Any team with 46 goals conceded after 36 games (more than Palace and Hull), can't expect to win the title. If they do, it's because others have failed badly.
