Ok, well clearly that's not sufficient. If we get through the summer and still have Shaw, Chambers and all the other academy guys, then we'll have made a start. Realistically to get the rumours to go away it will take a few seasons of it, and more success on the pitch. Think we might just have to get used to them.
There is still no actualbids in for any of our players yet.
So I guess what happens now is, the press randomly associates all our players with various clubs, while we randomly name players we'd like to be associated with?
But I bet plenty of sound bites
Are people saying Chambers is going?
What, again?
Just for clarification for PTF - that's not me saying "in my opinion I think people will go" - it's me saying that what Krueger has said is quite carefully worded and that people shouldn't get up in arms screaming "but you said nobody would be sold" should Shaw or Chambers, whoever, end up moving in the summer.
I don't know why people point to that article and try to dissect every negative out of it. The article isn't about players specifically, it is about the financial state of the club. Krueger is pointing out that the club is healthy enough financially that they don't need to start selling off the player assets. Which is what fans would want to know. That's as clear as crystal to me. There have been other articles where Krueger has been either interviewed or interpreted that Saints will not sell any key players that Pochettino wants to keep. Now I'm not sure how much clearer that has to be either. The man might have a small dollop of management speak in his delivery, but even I can understand Canadian English.
Not trying to *find* negatives here TSS at all. I'm just trying to inject a little realism. I'd be over the moon if nobody (bar the dead-wood) was sold over the summer, and I genuinely really hope that's the case. I'm merely saying that people shouldn't grip on to this like a lifeboat and then throw toys out of the pram if one of the big name players is sold at a healthy price. For whatever reason.
If you want my actual guess/opinion on what will likely happen, well I wouldn't be at all surprised if Shaw went for c. £30m and that money was reinvested into strengthening the squad. I'm just trying to pre-empt the wails of "But Krueger said......" that will be sadly inevitable should that happen.
The whole squad is being sold. We are ****ed.Don't bother. If people want to bury their heads this deep then they've only got themselves to blame for the inevitable meltdown when we don't end up having our whole squad on lifetime contracts.
