AUGUST HILL's win nine days ago was in a conditional jockeys handicap so no penalty applies. If that's not enough the runner up, Enchanting Smile made all to win at Newton Abbot on Saturday to give the form a very nice boost. Conditions tomorrow are are very similar and Michael Nolan rides her again. She is a tasty looking bet to follow up at 11/4.

Seems strange timing to me - wait until the season is well and truly over in terms of winning anything or even qualifying for the Champions League. They should have either stuck with him or done it in Jaunary when they still had something left to play for. But what do I know ................. <whistle>

Rumour has it they waited until they couldn't theoretically qualify for the CL before sacking him as they only have to pay one year of his contract. Personally I think he has done an awful job, and the contract to Rooney was a dangerous position to put the club, and has backfired big time. He should have swapped him for Mata in my book.
 
It's sad it's come to this but I'm glad he's out. I don't care about the results. Every manager would struggle straight after Fergie with a frail squad. His philosophy lost him the support of the crowd. If he played attractive football I'd see a future but his style isn't compatible with United's attacking philosophy.

Classless from the board to leak the news a day before the meeting with the manager. Not the right way to do it.

Nass, the numbers I've heard re Rooney are that his basic is the same as it was on the existing contract. The differentiator was that our commercial team effectively run his endorsements now. He should earn more money. United should earn more money and have better control over his time.

Rooney infuriates me because when played as the only striker he doesn't want to be up front. It limits our ability to score. Rooney's not a top ten player in the world but he'll be our captain next season so I'll be behind him but if he could find another ten goals I'd be very happy.
 
I'll be taking Stick on today in the 4.05 at Ludlow. Cantony has had a break after fair runs in very good maiden company. An opening mark of 108 looks workable. At 10/1 I'm backing it each way for a trainer that does very well indeed at this track.
 
This was always going to be a tough call for any manager - but an especially big call for one that has been potless for the last dozen years and never had more then 3p to spend on players ! .. I still cannot believe that the Glazers let themselves get talked into taking Moyes on as the 'anointed one' ... crass stupidity from day one . Moyes has never been a big enough persona to carry the Mancs forward and has made gaff after gaff in both team selection and his handling of the media . It was an inevitable slide to the sack .. but hey let's not shed toooo many tears as he reportedly picks up the thick end of 6m in severance ... Next job for him ? - surely he will be at the helm of Newcastle ...

For the incoming manager - surely a major clear-out of the dross that persists and a fight to keep the only really good player they have .. David De Gea ... I see a couple of years in the wilderness for the once all-conquering Mancs and the possibility of financial meltdown given the debts they are still financing .. ... Interesting times..

Klopp has said that his commitment to "Borussia Dortmund and the people is not breakable". Well, that's what he said, apparently. You know, Bob, he's a bit crackers when he's within a foot or two of a touchline. Outside of that, a very intelligent, likeable fellow.
 
I can't see Klopp going there. He's at one of the top teams in Germany. Van Gaal looks the likely man and he's really going to stir up that dressing room! It'll be bye bye RVP very soon too, but I wonder are Man U fans that bothered as the guy hasn't looked interested at all?

In a way I feel for Moyes as his solid reputation has really taken a pounding, as he's just looked completely clueless in every facet of the huge job he got.
 
Yeah well, if it is to be van Gaal then get plenty of clipboards at the ready. He had a really bad time at Bayern Munich, speaks poor German so found it very difficult to express himself with the media people (guess his English is much better) and just did not get along with the management or players. Think he should stay in his home country where he is so much more successful. Am therefore surprised to learn he is quitting the Netherlands national job after the WC.

It was a very nice excursion. Nice track and very friendly people though I do think that the huge amount of surrounding industry detracts markedly from what otherwise be a beautiful spot.
Backed the first three winners and the forecast in the third which paid sixty quid so a very profitable journey.
We get our mark today which the boys in the yard hope will be around the 90 mark!

It is a pleasant little course, well run if I recall, and a nice enough day out. Lets hope her mark isn't too high. I will predict 85.
 
It's that run against Fine Moment that could clobber the handicap. Ran too good a race there I fear.

It will be interesting to see what the handicapper does, because either -

A) Take it literal - 115 horse beats her 13 lengths = 102
B) Pinch of salt - 115 horse beats her by 13 lengths easy (can double winning distance) = 89
C) Somewhere in the middle
D) go off the horse just in front - 103 horse = 102
E) horse in front didn't run to form...

I wouldn't want to be the handicapper, Stick will be either pleased, annoyed or somewhere inbetween!!
 
A bit of education for you lot based around Mr Henderson's runner in the 5.10 at Ludlow today:
