Welcome to the mad world of football! He should be given more time but at the end of the day the yanks (tossers!) have made the decision after taking so much money out of the club to get rid. He should be given more time in my view. He was the chosen one and hand picked by Sir Alex. How quickly people forget and it seems they now dont respect Sir Alex's judgement. Lets not forget that before Sir Alex achieved much success the club were struggling. The last time a manager was sacked by ManUre was when relegation threatened. Moyes gets the sack for having the club in 7th spot. How times have changed!!
Never going like a winner mate. The winner, FATHOM FIVE, made every yard having drifted from 6/1 out to 20-1.....that's some drift!
I have lost it big style lately trusting a claimer that has never been on a winner encapsulated is an unabused 4yr old who should have improved on the weekend run
Be interesting to see Atletico Madrid play - haven't seen much of them this season to be honest but their record speaks for itself.
Corrected it for you uncle. Just deleted 3 words. Bound to get a few like that uncle. With the big priced winners you get, you can afford the inevitable losing run(s).
I'm all for giving a manager time to settle in and re-build etc but after what he did with the last tranche of money (£60m) I can see why they didn't trust him with another £150m. He wasn't up to the job and probably best got shot of sooner rather than later. I don't know the terms of his "6 year" contract but it could have been very costly if they had deferred. The shares have gone up £100m on the news so clearly the confidence had gone from a financial viewpoint. As for Fergie, he obviously isn't as good at assessing managers as he is at managing. This time round there will be a full and proper assessment. The yanks made a major error not doing a proper assessment last time.
Bit harsh that Ron - Moyes probably inherited the worst Manure squad for some time and his players have let themselves down too. I think you have to give a manager time.. The way football is now a days with multiple manager sackings throughout the season is just madness! The mad mad world of football! What was the point in a 6 year deal? Who 's bright idea was that? Moyes gets some good compo ok but you have to laugh they kept him for 1 year of the 6 years... ! Are you forgetting how Manure struggled in the early years under Fergie? Who's to say Moyes couldnt of gone on to be a very successful manager for Manure if he was given the chance ??
Typical mourinho oddy, shutting up shop n hoping for a scoreless draw.im on a 2-0 victory for atletico but cant really see it happening now.
cityhull is right, we got a mark of 98 to start off next season. a shade more than we would have wanted and the Towcester run was probably costly. we can work with that though! cheers hull, dunno how you got that earlier than me but nice work lol
Times have changed. The view that Fergie got time so the new man should is naive. Fergie came in and had a plan. He revolutionised the youth setup. He had pedigree in Scotland and Europe. He had a vision and played football the United way. He didn't have the outside pressures of immense prize money and tv money for Champions League participation. Football hadn't been commercialised (like it or not).
well said bob-moyes managed preston and done a decent job at everton thats it-wrong man at the right time
Cheers Ste. Talking about commercialisation of sport: http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=10822388
As I said Captain, I'm all for giving a new manager time. But aside from that: (a) he misspent £60m (b) he brought all his backroom staff in (c) his style of football was not what was required (d) his interpersonal skills were atrocious and managed to insult 2 senior players early on (e) his TV interviews were embarrassing (f) he wasn't qualified for the job (g) he was simply beginning to look clueless about what to do Nothing against the bloke. I feel sorry for him. He was wrongly selected. He was on a loser from the start. The people to blame are the Yanks for acting on Fergie's recommendation without doing a proper job in assessing his qualification for the job. Incidentally, I am not a Man U fan. That is my unbiased, objective view of the situation; one I have had for a while now.
I don't feel sorry for Moyes. The sacking of a premier league manager is not comparable to us mere mortals getting the axe. He'll get a lovely fat cheque for not doing anything at all. It did amuse me to hear that his methods were being questioned by the likes of Cleverley, Smalling, Young and Welbeck. If the new manager comes in and turns it around I'll wager a considerable amount that none of those clowns will figure prominently in his plans. So Moyes, a dour and not very media friendly Scotsman, gets the bullet. A key failing as much as his results being his dull style of play. On the same day a dashing Portugueezer, the darling of the media, takes his very expensively assembled squad to Madrid for a Champions League Semi final. They make no attempt to play any football whatsoever, take every opportunity to waste time and break up play. He's then applauded by the pundits for his tactical genius. Some Manu fans would love this guy to take over at Old Trafford too. Somebody once said it's a funny ol game.
You should be careful what you guy's are saying, I bet you didn't realise Fellaini is always lurking on the forum
