I know I piss off a lot of you because you think I've been so negative about Hughton for the last twelve months, but I just want to say that it's far from all over. We may only need three points and the rest of the clubs down there are nothing special. If Adams can keep the players believing in themselves, we can do it.

Yes you have, and I´d love to know where this sudden surge of optimism has come from, because even if the rest of the clubs down there, are, in your words, nothing special, they´re suddenly managing to do what we can´t at the moment, and that´s pick up points. I´d love you to be right, in fact I´d love all the Hughton out´ers to be proved right, but yesterday was realistically the last real opportunity to put some daylight between us and the bottom 3, I´m afraid.

It's come from the fact that Hughton has gone, simple. If we do go down now, you can rest assured we will go down fighting and not with a wimper as we would have done had Hughton remained in charge, McNally has a lot to answer for in not sacking him much sooner.
Anyway, it's all water under the bridge now and we all need to pull together and stop the petty bickering, ok RBF ?

I don't want to reprise all the arguments, but I was negative about Hughton because of the type of football he played. Nothing to do with results. On balance I probably expected him to keep us up until about a fortnight ago, so there's no sudden surge of optimism.

Even if he kept us up, though, I wanted him out. Watching your football team should not be like a visit to the dentist.

Crazy I know, but if you look at the league table it really is still in our own hands as to whether we stay up or not. I'm normally a 'glass half empty' type when it comes to City as many are, but I'm not throwing in the towel just yet. An unlikely, lucky, undeserved win next week would do for me and then everything changes once more.

    Keep the faith <ok>

I'd like to believe, I really would. But I just can't see us staying up now.

With the fixtures Fulham have, I expect them to overtake us in the table.

Whilst I think the Liverpool game is probably a write off although we kept Man City out so anything is possible, but after that we play Chelsea just after the champions league Man U who are on the beach and as has been pointed out probably don't want Europa League anyway and Arsenal who will most likely also be on the beach and have one eye on the FA cup final.

Not bickering with anyone, just querying your optimism with the games we have left to play, and anyway as carrabuh I´m sure would agree, makes no difference whether we, on here, pull together or not, it´s what the players do that matters. <ok>

Agree that what we do on here doesn't matter. What the fans do during the game, though, does have an effect. Even if they don't boo. Silence can send a message.

I hope everyone gets behind the team next week.

Vc, I didn't hear any boing yesterday. There were sighs when Ricky did the pass to nobody in the box, but it was generally a good atmosphere

Hopefully Adams will keep RVW as a sub for the remaining games and only bring him when absolutely necessary, who here thinks that he shouldn't even be a sub?

Bookies have us as around 1-2 and Fulham as around evens. But in a senses that's all a bit meaningless now as each result causes a sharp change in the prices. The fact is we still have more points than they do, and that shouldn't be dismissed. They were extremely lucky to get three points yesterday and they may not get that luck in other games. Don't overlook too the enormous pressure they will be under particularly at home. They still have to get at least three more points, in theory at least we already have enough.
Personally, I think we probably will need to get at least two more points, but we have four opportunities to do that. It's true that we will be short price favourites to lose each of those games, but that was also true of the Man City and Spurs games. It's slightly unfortunate that the best opportunity might come in the very last game, so in a sense avoiding a heavy defeat in any of the preceding games might be almost as important as how we play or the result.

Of course we could get some points and indeed stay up but the reality of it is that we are not good enough to beat Liverpool, Chelsea or Man.Utd ( possibly a point I suppose). The best chance is Arsenal at home but for me it's the Championship and probably be there for a while knowing our ouch and outlook.

For those teams that did change there manager earlier, it looks like they are seeing dividends being payed, we have left it too late I'm afraid.

One freak win might just be enough, and surely we've got to have some luck at some point?

    I'm not hopeful though!

I think we need Fulham to lose or draw their remaining games, I can't see us doing it ourselves. Liverpool is going to be a comprehensive drubbing, I think Arsenal is a chance of a point, but we can't even score against Fulham!

Yep, it's going to be a massacre, I'll probably give the match a miss and just keep track of the tally on the BBC website, I'm thinking 5-0!

Suarez picked up his 5th yellow in today's game, so at least he won't get his customary hat trick next week!
