Just checked the side for today and stopped at the first position.

Surely the worst keeper that has ever donned a saints shirt is playing again.
Gazzaniga's positional sense is nothing short of horrific....and thats not an exageration.
Whenever he plays its game over.
Just off the top of my head, Chelsea away. Soon as Boruc injured it was game over.
    Last week, shocking again.
My Question is ..... how is he a pro???
Now grit your teeth today and use your head and prove me wrong, but do you know what.....he wont'.
    Defence must be gutted.

Oh for goodness sake. Yes he's **** by PL standard but he would do fine in a lower league. Certainly good enough to be a pro. <doh>

I smell a WUM who has spotted where our doubts lie. Hope Gazza has a blinder or Cardiff get no where near our goal.

If you are a Saints fan, get behind the team. If you aren't, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Gills fan in peace. How are you genuine Saints fans finding Gazza? I know he's not anywhere near challenging Boruc yet but how have you found him as your backup? I see he's playing again today so are you happy with his improvements or are you still worried about his positioning? His decision making wasn't always the best when he was with us but I wondered if you've seen any improvements and are you happy with him, or should he go when his contract is up?

He'll probably leave. Not good enough for PL backup I'm afraid. He'd be better off going to League 1.

Hey guys i aint a WUM, i'm just pointing out how cr*p he is and you lot are agreeing with me.
Chilco u cant just say just get behind the team. This is top professional football and he shouldn't be near a prem ground. Everyone's saying L1, so wtf is he doing still at saints? and more importantly why have we not got a reliable steady No2??

So how on earth does you slagging him off 5 minutes before kick off help anybody? We all know he isn't good enough, but he's all we have at the moment. That's why we have to get behind him.

Thats the point Chilco, how can we have such a poor set of resse keepers. Davies is gone and Gazza is so poor its frightening.
Don't think u need to worry yourself, don't think he will be reading this site 5 mins before kick off!!

Why do we need to worry? We're mid table and we'll surely get a new keeper in the summer.

Exactly. And Gazza's done nothing wrong in the first half.

I'm not really sure what the point of this discussion is. I think everyone agrees Gazza isn't good enough right now and that we need a new keeper this summer.

    Having said that...
That's not really a strong argument. Cardiff have been poor and he's had very little to do. The once or twice he's had to do anything he's looked unconvincing, even if he hasn't actually screwed up.

Good game from Paulo today. Much better. Claimed things, punched the crosses away and a decent one-on-one or two.

Couldn't do anything with the game. Keep it up, Gazzaniga.

Part of the reason he maybe hasn't looked convincing is the ironic cheers whenever he did his job well today.

I do wonder if fans assume the player is deaf or whether they think cheering ironically when the keeper catches it will improve his game.

Great save towards the end 1 on 1 with Zaha. Not quite a starfish, but I'm sure Boruc would have been proud of that one.

I've said before that I feel his positioning to be suspect and I'm not sure that that can be improved at this stage in his career. I desperately want him to succeed because I always want everyone in our colours to succeed but also to take the smug grin of the terrace critic off the face of people like the originator of this thread.

However, he's an excellent shot-stopper and his distribution can be utterly perfect (couple of star-quality kicks today). He looked pretty much OK to me today. The quality of the strike for the goal today was (unfortunately) the highlight of the match for me, so no blame on Gazza.

Will he succeed? I think a close season of good training and we'll get to decision time.
