And then people are wondering why he's taking the safe option and punching rather than catching? His confidence must be in tatters and our "fans" are making it worse, not better.

It's OK saying "it's part of the game" but getting on our own player's backs (Punchy, Guly, Gastón, Fox, Hooiveld without even trying to think hard) can NEVER, EVER be a good thing, so why does a bunch of people who must individually recognise that act differently en masse?

Because football fans aren't the most intelligent of people.

Clearly he is bored or his other half has too much influence as it all went badly wrong for him years ago with social media. Hopefully they learned their lesson there. Though he got slammed in polish press few weeks ago for an altercation on Instagram with a fan

Last season, Mauricio was asked about what he tells the players about the opposition team. He said that he studies the other team, but doesn't confuse the team by telling them too much. He said keep it simple for the players<laugh>

I am!!! I have never dissed a Saints player in my life!!! On the other hand I have dissed many from another club not so far away when I used to watch them on a regular basis ............!!! But in 2008 or thereabouts I was converted to support the Saints again after many years in the wilderness!!!!

I'd give Gazz the shirt on Saturday even if Boruc is fit. It's kill or cure. He looked as if he got some confidence from Saturday so lets try and build on it.

I'm tempted to agree. Gazza needs to play - just not not sure if he needs to play for us yet. He has shown that there's improvement in him though.

I'd give him the rest of the season to find out.

I think his decision-making is where he struggles, which then has an effect on his positioning. For example, he always seems nervous about whether to come and claim crosses or not, which sometimes leaves him in no mans land. The one time he made the decision to go and claim a cross he came out and made a very good catch, which I think gave him a boost.

What is it with us and ruining our back-up keepers though? Is it simply a case of them not getting match time, or is there another reason?

Our loss was more the fault of our attackers than Gazza's in my opinion.

Mauricio says you have to let youngsters learn from their mistakes, but that is tougher with a keeper than with any outfield player. Gazza would get better the more he plays....experience tells you 'should I stay' or 'should I go.' No one would boo Chambers or Shaw if they lost the ball a couple of times a match, but people get on a keeper's back because it can cost a goal. Imagine Luke lost the ball, then the opposition player ran at Gazza who fluffed it...who would the fans blame the most?

You should read Jack Charlton's autobiography in which he explains why his Irish team played the way it did. He basically, reckoned that the average footballer couldn't hold more than one thought. Even then it had to be constantly reinforced. Quite funny actually.

Think thats pretty true. You only have t watch some of the TV interviews. Saints players being the exception of course.
