That's fair enough - but you shouldn't take everything posted by me and others on here so literally. This is a forum for chat.

Manic depressives are welcome, but so are those that like some off the cuff chit chat as well.

In all probability we will go down, but sometimes we need to put it on hold until the event. Chatting about the club, manager, team , supporters (and even the bloody owner now and again!) are what it's about on here.

If focusing on the **** that's been flying around the club and the impending doom of relegation is to be the only order of the day on here, I'll pack it in.

On a positive note I still maintain....despite all the controversies about signings over the past year, our playing squad is actually better than any of the bottom five

......trouble is only one or two are playing to their potential....and we've suffered because succesive managers have rarely played to the players' strengths.

As I said, until Palace started their good run everyone man, boy and monkey had them as a foregone conclusion for the drop, many saying they were worst than us.
West Ham were another club who looked like being in the bottom 3, also not looking capable of winning a game, but I guess it's the nature of football that it isn't over till the fat lady sings.
Of course if we keep following the trend we are now set in we will go down, so our hope is to buck that trend and get some wins.
Big ask, but no bigger than what Palace have achieved, and a lot were writing them off.

Woooh, steady on! I wasn't disagreeing with anybody's right to have or air an opinion, of course that is what this board is about!

I was merely putting forward my reasoning for having given up in response to questions about why those such as me didn't think we had a chance. Not for a second suggesting that everybody should have given up, or that anybody who thought we would stay up should not be airing their opinions, just my take on it!

I will gladly accept how wrong I was if we do turn it around!

Not a manic depressive at all - I will be at St. Mary's tomorrow loud and proud...

Wasn't suggesting that you were a manic depressive Popbank - nothing personal.

Just saying this forum is open to all dispositions, from those ready to top themselves over our current situation, to those who think City will not only stay up, but will be Champion League contenders next season.

Going down is not the end of the world, and somewhere on this forum I've said I'm quite looking forward to the Championship in a strange sort of way. Whatever, let's see it through until May and then trawl through the prospective comings and goings of players (manager?) as a result.

BTW, good to see you'll be at St. Marys tomorrow. Having been more familiar with The Dell previously, I've only been there once since they moved in. I was far more impressed with the interior (very nice stadium) rather than the outside - looked like a grey shed with red doors to me.....<laugh>

    (no offence meant Saints)

To be honest I will almost be relieved to be back in the championship - this visit to the prem has been one big disaster from start to finish!! Frankly I will quite enjoy being able to go to games not expecting us to lose!!

Hopefully in the next few years we will get financial stability, use the parachute payments wisely, build a team and a footballing identity that all our players buy in to and launch another assault on the premier league. And dare I say it we may be in blue next time... hey I can dream..

Wow... I love being proved wrong :) best away day in a long time. Incredible. They really fought for it. There was passion in droves on the pitch and in the stands in a game i didnt give us a prayer in. Next two against a mathematically safe stoke and taple propping sunderland who have an abysmal home recird. Dare , dare i say it?

We have to replicate the atmosphere we created today as much as is pracitcally possible next week. Humble pie will never have tasted so good if we pull it off...

Stilll a huge ask, but SING OUR HEARTS OUT FOR THE BLOOBIRDS!!

Not quite sure how to take that comment, but i'll bite:

I am fully aware it will take more than singing to keep us up. However, if our players show half the heart, determination and unity they showed today, as opposed to the dross we sat through last week, I would predict that it is very possible we will be in situations similar to today where they have leads to hold on to.

In the past when we have been leading at home, our fans have got edgy, frustrated and nervous, getting on the players' backs. Today the crowd rose as one in an act of defiance and snag through the last half hour when every one of us deep down was bricking it.

I will never know how much, if any, effect the crowd's response to stressful situations has on the players. But it can only be positive if we get behind the team, is the point I was making.

After today, who knows ey!! (Still a massive ask, but we have that glimmer of hope at least.)

And so will your lot. 33 pts looks a long way from safety still.

More than a glimmer Pop! The Bluebird massive were outstanding today and you have some very winnable games in your run in! Agree with Stevo that we are still a long way from safety :( Just glad that neither of us have the run in that Norwich have!! So am hoping that both Welsh clubs get the results required to ensure another couple of fabulous premier league derby next season! <cheers>

It was a huge win for us, but again we were simply lucky for a lot of the game. Marshall...can't say enough about the guy. Club legend for me.

What we really need is to follow up. The problem we have had is once we get a result we seem to rest on it for two or three matches. I am not convinced 34 will be enough so we need to get 4 from Sunderland and Stoke to have any real chance.

I agree with Sparkey in the sense that if we make it to the Chelsea game needing a point; we may well do it. Would sum up the season in many ways ;)

Really excellent response the the one-liner king and so true. <ok>

Phil - if you lose today against Chelsea and fail to get a win at Newcastle next week, you will be in deep trouble. However, I expect you to beat Villa at home and that would be enough to put you safe.

As far as we're concerned, we need to push on from here. The way things have turned around for the bottom clubs this past few weeks, I tend to agree with Temple's post - 34 points may well not be enough, particularly with our horrendous goal difference.

I'll repeat what I said a while back - if we get anywhere near survival level come the last game, the Chelsea encounter will be massive!
