So do you think, bias aside, that united can return straight back to the CL next season?

Will it be harder to attract their targets. Tony kroos for example, would he give up being in a champion team (league and possible CL winners) for united?

It's reported that United have been having a " quiet word" with their targets....is this not tapping up?

I feel if Moyes is still there they will struggle. So let's hope he stays
 
Hmmmm frankly silly wages will attract players so we will see, who are utd competing with? Liverpool, arsenal, Everton and spurs. 4 into 2 so in reality if lfc can utd can. Arsenal are the club who need change, lfc need to strengthen and grow, if utd spend 200 mil and throw wages at player sure they can get back in

But not with moyes.... I really hope he stays but I fancy in May he will be gone
 
they can attract players as they are still a huge club, how we survived at one point, but they will have to give them ridiculous wages to do so.

question will be is how long they are out the cl for as then the silly wages will start being a drain on their resources, and who knows, they may have to sell to buy then lol.
 
Liverpool can but that's because we have a world class striker in Suarez and a top top manger in Rodgers. United have neither of these ( RVP too injury prone and ageing) so I feel it will be a big ask and can only see it happening if they throw loads of money at it. Then they will possibly end up with a team of mercenaries. But even then with Moyes in charge CL still wouldn't be guaranteed.
 
Can United get back into CL the season after next? Well - YES. The real questions are HOW they do it and HOW MUCH they are prepared to spend to do it. BUT they are not really the questions to which we, and they, should be trying to answer.

Just getting back into CL for 1 season is probably more about spending money than it is about building a side. If United truly want to re-build their future then they must take the far more more riskier course of long term development. However, they can't truly move forward until they are prepared to let go of what has passed. That takes time..
 
hasn't utd value gone down quite a bit? be an odd time to sell, try and get them back in cl first, then they will be more valuable and attractive.
 
Possibly through winning the Europa league, but otherwise I can not see them getting there through the league under Moyes.
As for us, we need to make sure we stay in it, the 2015/16 champions league season is where BT take over and the money gets even greater in the champions league.

To get immediately back into CL will mean a considerable outlay on players - figure that will probably be doubled when wages are included!. However, they could follow the model demonstrated by LFC - continued growth of the commercial income whilst limiting player investment.

i hope they don't personally as that would be doing it the right way dave, and we don't want utd doing that lol.(although get your point you was making)

not sure to be honest, figures thrown around seem to be they will need between £100m and £200 mill to get that squad back to what we have seen from them down the years, as they do have a lot of ****e, and some seriously over paid wages wise.

i think for an outlay of say £120 mill (can they afford that?) suppose depends which way you see the argument ie short term v long term, could that outlay if they have it get them back in the cl straight away?, the longer they are out the cl like we was their commercial side will suffer.

i dont care really, **** em, give them the same amount of sympathy they gave us, although i don't want it to come down to ****ish owners, hopefully it will be the football that does the talking, they was supportive of us in that to be fair.

Like you, I want to see them rot for as long as possible! Sure they could spend £120 million. Depending how the market goes after the WC they may need to spend that just to stand still! United's problem is that having been No1 and/or the BIGGEST means that there is only one direction of travel.
 
There shouldn't be any sympathy - they won't be in the top 4 places in the league this year because their team/manager aren't good enough.

Deal with it (or hopefully, don't)

Man Utd will not be sold. The Glazer's will want more than anyone is willing to pay.

Spending, £100m, £120m or £200m would get them the players but they would be committing to at least as much again in wages too. How many £200k+ per week players can they really afford?

May I say that the glaziers are milking a golden cow here or whatever analogy you want... Why sell when you put nothing in a utd finance you loans and provide tens of millions to you per year

This is the test, will the glaziers let utd run up debt while still taking cash to get back or will they force cost cutting to maintain the cash flow.... The one thing I can't see is these guys foregoing their cash tithe
 
United are pretty ****ed. Their squad is awful (blame Fergie for that) and needs an overhaul. Doing so will more than likely result in a Spuds effect season of gelling, but with a huge wage bill unfinanced by the CL. That'll either cause them to sink or swim. If they make CL it paid off, if they don't, they'll drop like Leeds. Their best option is to flog their aging players and buy some promising young players and promote some of their youth forward. Keep a large degree of consistency in the side (De Gea, Jones and Smalling (lol), Kagawa, Janijizz, Rooney and I guess Carrick) and build for the long term. That'd see them out the CL for a few years, but see them grow long term.

I don't think the fans or club want to be out of the CL or trophies for a few years, so they'll likely chuck money at it and hope it works out.

"We'll be back"? Not so sure, Moysie.
 
Winning the Europa could be their best chance of CL in 2 years time but it looks like they can't even qualify for that.
 
United are too good for Europey, apparently. they're nailed on 7th. They won't get top 4 next year and winning EL would be their only hope
 
They're a huge club, and I'm sure they can grub up the cash to get some big players, but that's not a foolproof recipe for success.
Ask Spurs.
Either they need a new manager, or Dave has to have some sort of epiphany and realise where he's been going wrong.
I think we've long believed that the Fergie Factor has been crucial to Utd's enduring success, and now we're seeing the evidence of that.
I used to think Moyesey had done ok with Everton, but seeing what Martinez has achieved there has given me doubts, and I'm more than ever convinced that Moyes' philosophy doesn't suit Utd.
