Not at the moment he isn't. Van Persie hes had some great seasons but I think he has returned to his injury plagued days. Also, if Lambert had played for Arsenal with that midfield behind then he would have certainly also been prolific. I mean Mata is also class (probably the best) but on current form he would not make my XI.

When charged with statements like "Southampton are not equal to united" it makes my blood boil. Clearly we are not in comparison to club size. Football wise.......? Most would definitely agree that on the pitch we most certainly are, more than equal.
Even their own Guru, Sir Alec has acknowledged that on one or more occasion.
When any visitor comes to this board from any of the clubs we are more than happy to discuss football points, transfer news or rumours. Start sprouting off how much superior their particular club is and they are bound to get hostility. Some fans are less delicate than others in their expression of disagreement it is true. Just the same though if your intention is clearly to wind the saints fans up then action can be and will be used. Who to blame is not a cure.......certain actions will be!

Indeed. RVP also offers nothing in terms of playmaking. For all his quality he is perhaps detrimental to the United team.
Manchester United's long pursuit of Luke Shaw may have finally come to an end after two club fanzines report that a long awaited deal has been agreed with Southampton.
'Red Issue' and 'United We Stand', both prominent fan publications, have printed similar stories that the deal would see a move for Shaw completed before the World Cup. It is reported that Southampton are set to pocket £27m for their highly coveted teenage full-back and, despite his tender years, Shaw will earn £85,000-per-week from the move.

I'd take 27mil for Shaw only if we go and purchase a few carefully picked players that improve the team.
One thing that any Saints player will come to realise (if they don't already) is that never in their career will they play in a TEAM like this one. They all seem to be cast from the same mould. There is genuine respect, they play for each other and they seem to care about each other. They will never experience this same togetherness at another club.
I hope they understand this and appreciate this. They could earn more money elsewhere, true, although they will still earn enough here not to have to work again; they may win more trophies elsewhere, although this is no longer the 'given' that it once was; but they will never have the opportunity to play in a team that has worked its way up from the depths with the same core of players and a shared ethos.
They are lucky to be here and we are lucky to have them. In this important respect Man Utd or any other team will always be a second best.

Man U will be the team this summer that have cash to burn, I'm thinking Moyes warchest will be near 100 mil as they are smarting. Chelsea want to offload around half their squad with young players making up the bulk, Liverpool will be as happy as pigs in **** with this season, Arsenal are tight and how can yo improve Man City unless they sign the likes of Messi ?

Let's assume for a moment that Luke is for sale.
Something I would find utterly bizarre is the idea that Saints would agree a deal that is: on the quiet; with a single bidder; outside the transfer window; before the World Cup. Given the number of teams linked with him, the logical business approach would be to allow a bidding war to start towards the end of the transfer window and see who comes in with the best offer. Wouldn't that be the best way to maximise the cash we receive?

all of these rumours are totally wrong. I have read in the Portsmouth fanzine "Skate til I die, or the next administration, whichever comes first" has said that Pompey have agreed a deal to make Saints their feeder club for their inevitable descent into the Skrill Portsea island division. This deal however is contingent on Saints keeping this squad together. Katharina is too good a business woman to miss out on this pot of gold, but will wait until the end of May to see how much the weekly whip round at fallingdown park makes.
