Aye, it's easy to lose track of time, i'm ok, i'm getting paid but supposed to be working, mind ain't done a lot of work today.
Nice banner but, and not trying to piss on your parade here. 1: It has to be a min of 1800 pixels, but you cant please every res, some will miss the sides of the picture, others will see it all but with a blank space at either side, mick wont even think about putting it on if its any less than 1800. 2: You only have a tiny little window, if I can remember how to do it (its been 2 years+) I will show what it looks like on the forum, its Firefox, web developer tools, but from there I seriously can't remember, but a lot of your picture will be behind the white foreground and welcome to Sunderland will be covered by the new posts private messages white bar at the top, this is why its a pain in the arse to design a banner for here, as the window is that small. hope you take this as constructive criticism. please log in to view this image I am on 1920*1200 so it does look small, but the actual depth will be the same for all, hope you can see what I mean now (and when did imgshack go paid sub only, robbing gits.)
REALLY!?! FFS! Cheers Steve, I'm done. Been trying and trying to get that information. Put in hours. **** it someone else can do it. Yeah Imageshack are ****ers, I use this now http://postimg.org/
Sorry, I could have told you if I had not been awol for about a year, a lot just "expected" me to do a new one, but never really tried themselves (even though i am a complete noob at it and colour blind which doesn't bloody help). If you have packed in (I do not want to steal your thunder) I will give it a go this weekend sometime, as at least someone took it upon themselves to TRY!!! (yes it did piss me off at the time lol)
I've finished spitting my dummy now (just been roaming through some stats and it's soothed me) I'll give it another blast. Not about thunder fella, it's about getting a new banner up that's the best possible (cough, have you seen the mags new banner cough cough) and up to date. You fancy doing a couple and I'll do a couple(or just one each) and we'll let the masses decide with a vote?
This^. Seems such a waste after all the time & effort. I don`t pretend to understand the technical, pixel stuff but imo the layout and content are excellent. Got to be nearly there Bri surely?
Yeah but it tends to take me bloody ages, the one we have now i struck lucky, 2 really high res images overlapping and it just sort of worked (to me). I will get stuck in this weekend like I said.
Wise man wants g-force on their but I can't find an image with anywhere near a big enough resolution. If you come across one will you let me know the link? What software are you using? Everything I use is via online sites. Some decent sites there but none good enough to do the whole job, need to use a combo.
Will you do me a favour Steve when you have a moment. Can see what this looks like on your desk top for me so I can get a better idea of the cut of points? please log in to view this image http://postimg.org/image/qwzz3itw1/
please log in to view this image I use Photoshop CS6 64 bit from the Adobe CS6 master collection. How to do this is Firefox download web developer, click the FF icon top left of browser, web developer, style editor, opens box at bottom, bottom option Inline Styles, click that and it should have 1 line for the banner, just paste your image url over it and it will show in your browser, then print screen it if you want to show it on here. and i doubt you will get one either, if the picture was not taken in hi res, then you wont get high res. PS: think we need another image host, looks like this one is resizing our pics even though i said not to when I uploaded it, might have to sign up for photobucket.
pixels in a picture, older ones will be the same as an old TV 480*### at best. Hi res is 580*### to 16,000*#### but minimum should be above 1080 really, and preferably for a picture a lot higher than that, the ones i used for the background were in the 3000*#### mark. Pictures are slightly different to TV but its the same basic premise.
Regarding firefox, I'm on chrome but don't have the internet data to down load firefox. How is this for a background? Should be bang on for me to use. High enough res to work from? Getting hi enough res images for the layers is going to be a nightmare. please log in to view this image http://postimg.org/image/pqkl5o9xx/ Should I crop it to shape or what?
that one you posted, the width isnt big enough, but the depth is too big, you should really get yourself a photo editing programme of some sorts, not sure exactly what you are using http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...e-10-top-image-editors-you-should-try-1135489 get number 1 in that list GIMP lots use it instead of Photoshop and its free, probably the closest you are going to get to PS without paying a penny. (unless like me you dont pay a penny and still use PS) PS: I use chrome as well, i just use FF for doing that.
Looks OK to me. I think this banner stuff is overrated anyway. Look at the mags' new one and it looks ****e being covered over with headings. Incidentally, I'm utterly crap with computers, so don't ask me for help!
