I respect what your saying mw, respect everyone's opinions on here and honestly the pain safc fans feel bleeds through my iPad air. In regards to 'if we go to cp' I'm not Sure exactly who we'll have for the 46 game marathon but I know we'll have basically a new squad at our hands. I'm keeping An open mind cause that's abit of hope in my mind that our direction going forward needs changing.
Because we cant go on like this its unsustainable. Spending millions overhauling the squad every summer to escape relegation by the skin of our teeth whilst heomoriging nearly 30m a year in our financial results. We basically need switching off and back on again I.e start from scratch in the championship and do it properly this time like Newcastle when they went down.
Regardless of what division we are in, I reckon an overhaul is on the cards, it has to be as we simply have too much deadwood on the books. That said, it will boil down to finances.
This seasons TV money will clear our debts Cest. They're on 40% pay cuts, 5 are out of contract and We'll shift some too. Don't worry about money fella, we'll be sweet.
Agree mate, this will be the time where congerton, Gus earn their coin. Looking at our squad & remaining contracts we'll be quite thin, pro's will be of course hopefully an actual midfield running our team, neg's will be how long will it take to gel? 46 games is along season but will wait & see. Accidentally hit thanked for this post lol
No mate, Newcastle have an owner who wiped out there debt, albeit temporarily, they'll be ****ed if he ever pulls out. Ellis refuses to do this and we as a club would be in financial dire straights if we went down. You're just looking at the playing side, look at the club as a whole. We're £21m in debt now, we go down and we lose millions more in TV revenue, not to mention non renewed season tickets. Yes we'd get shot of some wages, quite a bit as well but that would only be while we're in the championship, what about if we won promotion? do you think players would come to us on championship money? would the players who go us promotion be good enough for the EPL? would Ellis learn by his mistakes and bankroll decent signings? I doubt it mate. I agree, we need a fresh start, but I disagree that we need to get relegated to achieve this. As I've already mentioned, regardless of which division we are in, a clear out is on the cards and a lot of deadwood will be shifted.
No mate, ellis converted his investments into shares, we don't own money to him, it's banks we owe money to but the tv money covers the debt. As ever Our main problem is operating costs with our wage bill being well over the recommended 70% mark for the FFP
i never had chance to reply to the thread that got closed down due to 2 of your guys arguing with each other. Tell you what pal, if I cant add stuff on your forum then please stay away from the Hull board. Enjoy your Bruce induced relegation.
I never said we owe Ellis the money mate, I just said our current debt is around the £21m mark or was a few months back. I was just making the comparison between us and the scum, their owner wiped their debts out, well he cleared their debt and now they owe him. As you said, we owe the bank but we still owe the money, going down and losing more revenue would have a massive impact on our ability to clear these debts. Lets not forget, most of our current squad will be gone and will cost money to replace and then there's wages. Yes, they should be significantly les but that would depend on Gus's strategy for getting us back up. My guess is that he will keep the likes of Gardner, Colback, Bardo, Brown, Cattermole, etc and push for a speedy return. Their wages will be reduced by 40% but we will still need to spend a lot of money to rebuild a depleted squad and with less revenue coming in as well.
Ah I see, fair do's. But the tv money will clear the debt(62m minimum), the wage bill has already been slashed (falling 9.6%) but will plummet when the relegation clause take effect and the out of contract players and loan signings leave, Then we have player sales and parachute payments which are £59m over four years. Doubt we'll resign many of the players out of contract, most of them will walk back into the premiership for free. There's only Colback I'd want to resign but he'll walk anyway. We're not going to be loaded to rebuild but we'll be debt free. My only concern is will we be running in the black or in the red on a monthly bases.
All sounds good mate. My concern is rebuilding if we did manage to get promotion at the first attempt, we've proved time and again that the squad to win promotion isn't good enough to sustain it once you do get there.
UTTER BULLSHIT Surely it would be better to build from the prem. We gan down, we ain't coming straight back up, the longer it takes, the less likely it's gonna happen.
Lets be honest though fella, if we go down it could be a few seasons till come back up. Chance of new blueprint to laid, all tiers of the squad singing from the same hymn sheet. Let's see if Gus is the man to to turn us into the next Southampton.
If you showed the bottle and spirit you displayed at Hull with 9 men, you'd be well safe by now...What happened? I'd have a fiver on you lads to bounce back immediately.
I wouldn't, there's a couple of season rebuild needed here, we're parting company with at least 12 players(loan and out of contract players)
Don't know if you've noticed but so is the Premiership. Still rather stay up but the Prem this year has been shocking and we've been one of the worst, big rebuild will take time.
