Anyone else read these newspaper articles today... http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/n...rbour-charles-n-zogbia-doubts-61634-28905759/ http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...les_n_zogbia_ready_to_decide_future_1_3497323 Time for the club to step up to the plate and sign the lad. We missed out on Adam Johnston before because we wouldn't back down when sometimes not all the time if there is a player out there worth paying over the odds for then thats what should happen, we should of done that with Johnston and we should certainly do it now with N'Zogbia.
I'm fairly confident we will get N'zog, although I hope we don't bust our wage structure to do so. We should be doing everything we can to try and offload some of our deadwood to Wigan as part of the deal, this would free up some wages. Exciting times ahead if we have him Sess and Gyan starting in our elven next season.
Every transfer window (January, last summer, and the January before) we keep getting excited about the prospect of N'Zogbia coming to us, but i just can't see it, i think if it was going to happen it would have happend IMO. I would love him playing for us mind.
Anyone have any idea who our highest earner is and what they are on at the moment? I'd hazard a guess at 35-45k a week but could be way off.
No one will pay him £60k, if he wants to leave Wigan he'll have to lower his demands. The most I can see us offering is £50k.
Well it ain't gonna be us at that kind of wage demand, just wish someone would, then wouldn't have to read about the git all day. Everyday, by some paper, we are gonna buy him..Can't be arsed to count how many threads about him....but it's a canny few.
The problem is there is some right dross earning more than our maximum elsewhere BB mate. I totally agree with the stance taken by the club, but it means we will only ever be able to afford other teams cast offs. Which is worrying for the future. (Unless a wage cap for the whole PL comes in.)
People seem to be appalled at the wages he wants, but that's footballers these days, if we want to keep bringing these big name players in and progressing as a club we are going to have to start forking out bigger wages.
Wage demands are all quite big up here but we do need to be improving the squad (and Zog would definitely be a step up) Nzogbia, Cattermole, Sessegnon, Larsson is not a bad midfield IMO The 60k a week can be worked around by offering a bigger signing on fee or something that us fans will never know about - so if he gets an extra million in his signing on fee and 40k a week he may think that's a good deal (on a 4 or 5 year deal saves us a bit as well) we'll see eh?? I can;t see us paying him £60k a week and breaking the wage structure - but the extra when he signs might make him think of signing for a little less per week....
60k a week is not big money lads (to footballers anyway) if we are to improve then we will have to look at raising our pay ceiling as all we'll get are 40k players all the time and we'll just stagnate or worse get left behind by other teams. If he wants 60k a week then tell him to forego his signing on fee that'll pay his wages for a year or so. We've been after this bloke since time and memorial yet he is still a Wigan player he doesn't want to come and this 60k is just a polite way of saying no yet again.
What? 60k? No chance! I doubt Newcastle, Liverpool, Arsenal and whoever else has been linked with him will pay that much. I can only see MU or MC stumping up that kind of cash.
