Morning all, looks as if it will be a good day here for being out and about. I have read that the south of England is likely to have very high levels of air pollution today with sand from the Sahara in the mix. We had it descend on us at the weekend and I had to wash the car before driving as it was so thick.

It is an interesting conundrum, what would we do if some time in the future two of Granada, Watford and Udinese qualified? Would it be down to the owner to decide which team relinquished it's place?

Just about to set off for a couple of days in the Cotswolds driving an E type Jaguar. Five minutes ago the hire company rang to say it was returned late last night with a blown head gasket and is consequently unavailable. Very annoying as I was looking forward to the experience and making Mrs H an even more nervous passenger than usual with the V12 engine. Oh well, there's still a good hotel and meal to enjoy and if it pours with rain we can console ourselves with the thought my own car is not open to the elements.

I used to have a Triumph Spitfire, not in the E-type band, but great fun..... and 70 was FAST!!!!
That's really not on. I hope they're offering you a chance at reduced rate in the future, surprised no replacement option. Nearly had a series 1 1/2 which I think was the most beautiful a few years ago. A friend had a series 1 restored immaculately but his wife sold it whilst he was working overseas.... These days you can't beat a prancing California in my opinion... now get this house move out of the way and....
There is a little "specialist car" lot in a village just up the road from me in Bandit Country - currently has a Mustang up for sale - £34K and it's not even red! Personally I would prefer a brand new S3, 300 horses and some spare change!
I'm afraid I get road rage every time I see the propeller or the 4 rings on any car, can't control it and have owned both in the not too distant past, no idea why but they just rile me... Having said that still considering an R8 as my next toy... schizopfrenic my new middle name.
Finally got the results of my blood test today regarding potential kidney failure, my kidneys are very healthy and working perfectly, the poor reading was because I was suffering flu when the original blood was taken!
When I asked why nobody had given me my results, the excuse was they let my doctor know and assumed he would tell me!

Bloody typical eh.....I have a diabetic nurse and I really think I know more than her.....
Also I have to ask for results as they only contact me when they think the results are bad... hence I never get retinopathy results etc
Since that clinic when I was told my kidneys were in trouble, I've been idiotic with my diet, eating whole packets of choccy biscuits at one sitting or two or three Mars bars at a go. What finally brought me to my senses was reading that Freddie Knuckles, who died last week aged 59 years, the cause of death was "complications due to type 2 diabetes!"

Could it be that France doesn't enjoy the foibles of the National Health Service?
When I did my ankle I had to have a weekly blood test and the district nurse came to the house to draw a pint or two off, then she took it to the lab. The results were with me the next day in the post. The lab is privately run, and you have to pay something towards the test with the bulk of it paid by the state. It seems to me that it is worthwhile paying a small amount if you get a better service. If you are ultra poor or have an ongoing health problem, then the state picks up the whole bill. My daughter works for the NHS and complains that blood tests are always too slow. Maybe they should out source the service.
