Well we have the dvla here that employs thousands and the pension service and land registry are here, so large government employers, you know the dvla don't you, those are the ones taxing cars and driving licences, something that most police reality tv shows from Leeds showing untaxed cars should learn about ;)

Also as we have premier league football in our city together with location on the coast, we are a vibrant city on the up, unlike Leeds and their ghetto like areas overrun with crime, shootings and low life's , having visited Leeds many many times I know where I prefer ;)

There's no smoke without fire, and a friend on the inside circles of the Swans has told me there is truth in the Gradel story and early contact has been made between the bigwigs.

If so, he would be great as a cover for Sincair/Dyer.

Well that settles it for sure Donald,

Footballers would rather go to a city where there is more private sector jobs!!!

Milton Keynes, Reading and Bristol (as well as Leeds) are below us in the league but hell, private sector investment and buoyant cities will ensure their footballing success Doh

No, no, the report says you're on the down and Leeds is the only large city on the up.

    Swimaway: <laugh>

Mk Swans: We're well past the Gradel stuff now, I was responding to some statistics with some of my own. Or did you think all that stuff about beaches and chavs was football-related too?

I love people who try and pick holes - gives me free reign to do the same.

Check the official stats and you'll find that Sinclair actually scored 19 league goals whilst Gradel was on 18 - really doesn't mean much but you seemed to think I was mistaken when I actually checked my facts. Those figures don't count playoff goals (which most places do as they are league games) so another version would be 22 to 18, but that's not really important. Scott probably did score more from the penalty spot though (not got the figures on hand, nor care to search them) but they all count for one anyway.

Baseless bias? Two players that fit into the squad, live in the area already, and know our system inside out. Seeing as they both play in positions that Gradel does, why would we drop people that have shown to be a success at our club, in our formation, for a newcomer - unless he has Premiership experience or is substantially better (neither of which imo Gradel does as they are all three quite similar levels atm with Sinclair ahead on Prem experience).

Sentiment doesn't come into it for me, I just want to see us the best we can be and dropping an established player for a newcomer that is on a similar level just doesn't make sense for me.

Oh and the Fulham vs Leicester quip: Yes Fulham are a Premiership club, established there for quite some time now. Plus they got to the Europa League final in 2009. Leicester are a Championship club that won League One in 2009, so to classify them as a bigger club is just absurd - I know which club most footballers would go to if they had the choice.

Try baiting your hook with more accurate info and I'll actually be glad to see you again. If you chose to re-wum without such tasty bait, then I'll just think of you as someone giving your club a bad name again after all the good signs of improvement I've seen from the Leeds fans.

Please enjoy the Championship next season, I'll enjoy my year (possibly more) watching Premier League games at the Liberty.

    I relish it. :D

Apologies, yes, I checked the ESPN site which is wrong now I check it against the official FL stats. Damn Yanks! Gradel was our designated penalty taker and I think he scored three from the spot. Frustratingly, there don't seem to be any stats around for penalties. Regardless, even if Sinclair has scored one or two more than Gradel from open play and self-earnt penalties (which I doubt), I think my point about workrate and creativity still stands.

I'd say because he is better. When you sign a player who's an improvement on the ones you've got, you don't sit them on the bench just because the old boys "live in the area already, and know [the] system inside out". You play the improved player otherwise there's no point signing him up at all as a freshly-promoted side, it's a waste of precious resources.

Fair enough, I think the fatal flaw in that comment is the "on a similar level", which I don't think to be true, but I guess we'll just be going round in circles if we continue that argument.

You're conflating big club with successful club. Fulham are a more successful club, but Leicester's fanbase and away support shows they're a bigger club because they have more fans. The Fulham comment was a half-joke anyway, the half-serious side being the fact that Gradel's already stated he'll happily extend his deal when Leeds make an offer.

I'm not fishing, just trying to while away my life with a bit of good-natured football discussion and maybe learn a few facts and correct a few wrongs along the way. Not in this on some vain wind-up trip, though your judgmental generalizing comment about Leeds fans suggests you might be.

Can't promise you I'll enjoy it, but yeah the Premiership's really good, it's nice to see fans of clubs like Hull and Swansea get a brief chance to see their club in the big time, take some pictures of Gerrard and Rooney in their own stadium etc. <ok>

I'd think he has. He was 17 when he set the record for youngest player to score in the premier league. About a month or so before Milner beat that record by scoring for Leeds in the 02/03 season. I think that was it anyway. I saw him play against Chelsea the game after he broke that record, where he scored again in a 2-0 battering we gave them.

Yeah he has, he scored the winner in a 1-0 win for Everton at Elland Road in 2002. Probably played there three times since then as well.

Are you sure? Because I remember going to a 1-1 draw with Everton where Rooney and Milner both scored.

So we have offered £2m and pintado for him, he is a £7m rated player, making the deal £9m for Gradel, a very fair deal, and one captain birdseye will accept ;)

[SIZE="3SIZE]have anyone ever had a night out in leeds, god its dreadful full of chavs and muggers and thats just the women who by the way have beards...they still cant get over the 5-1 hammering we gave them when they were a big team and they hate anyone who is better than them, Jesus they ain't even the best Yorkie team now so you can see why they are seething when smaller teams like us,qpr and norwich playing in the league they can only dream about while papa smurf and his wonder boy grayson runs the show, leeds is nothing more than a feeder club now that will be the case for may years to come.....well done pa pa smurf..<party><party><party>:emoticon-0103-cool:

why is this Donald Duck still claiming HIS Leeds UTD are the be all and end all of all football clubs, because they can boost a rich history of triumph and glory. Because HIS city is the hippest and most vibrant of all the country. Tainted glass i might think. 1st of all Mr Quack, ur club with the deep history is NO more, it ended when you slimmed your way out of millions of debt and re-named your club Leeds Utd 2007 to which your only honour of note is finishing every season since way behind Swansea in points and also in footballing terms. So if we wished to flex Our weight and pick up ur best player so that WE chose to be on the bench, am sorry Mr Quack you have no right to try and chuck your fat beer belly weight around!!!!

Leeds is far a bigger city to Swansea, but am sure you must hear it every night in bed with your mrs, size doesnt matter ;) too many people Leeds is just another urban decay of a city full of crime and hate.

Thought this thread was going to resolve itself on good terms. :(

    1. Where have I been banging on about history on this thread? I think club size does affect a player's choice sometimes, and history affects a club's size usually because clubs with a richer history tend to have a larger fanbase which makes them a bigger club. (Tend to.) Don't think I've been talking about the past on here though, unless I've been hit by sudden memory loss.

    2. I think Leeds is an excellent city which is on the up. I've freely admitted that areas of it are crime-ridden and poor, but why would that affect a player wanting to come to Leeds? Our bad areas are no worse than those in Manchester or London, and our good areas are among the best. Leeds is the hub of Yorkshire, a stable city which isn't set to go bust and a very attractive proposition for a young player to live. In my honest opinion, Swansea isn't, though I'm not saying you find it hard to attract players, just that Leeds by our location have an inbuilt advantage to some extent.

    3. The LUFC 2007 thing is a poor argument, tends to be a last resort from bitter Sheff Utd fans. The club we are today is identical to the one then - we play at Elland Road, we kept the same players and staff, most crucially of all we kept exactly the same fans. It is the same club, let's not be shortsighted and pedantic about it.

    4. If you choose to 'throw yourself around', we can rebuff the offer or sell. Either way, we're in the driving seat, even more so because Gradel's said he'll happily extend his stay at Elland Road.

    Jibes I'm awaiting:
    - Leeds are just looking to sign a bunch of crocks
    - You don't even own your ground
    - Papa Smurf won't buy you any players
    - All your squad are getting sold

Life must be really boring for these Leeds plonkers on their own LOWER LEAGUES section. Either they are jealous and want to spend some time with the big boys on the Prem section, or they are just ****ing stupid northern monkeys and lost, or they are actually closet Swansea fans - which is I wonder?

I think they are pretending to live the dream so they can just click on Premiere league rather than face the stark reality that their own club is in the LOWER LEAGUES SECTION .

If you are lost it's quite easy to find.........
.......it's underneath us.........a whole division under us.... you can't miss it - it's called THE CHAMPIONSHIP or LOWER LEAGUES - good luck finding it but not for your team next season, you have exhausted any pleasantries I felt through your "My dad is bigger than yours " schoolchild attitude :emoticon-0173-middl

Making history is more fun than reliving it as , but fill your boots . Gradel means more to Leeds than us . If he comes to us , great , if he doesn't , good luck to Leeds & Gradel .

Enough of your fans seem to be enjoying their time on our LOWER LEAGUE board. Full blown Swansea-Cardiff argument on there yesterday, you'd love it.
