I've highlighted these statements because they are ridiculous. The first, when have I ever alluded to this lack of a "plan B"? The answer; never. Because I am able to see that we are a quality team with a quality manager, who therefore have much more to our game than just a "plan A". So please don't target my argument with a cheap-shot like this. The second statement, wow, where to even start? (btw I'll ignore the patronising tone, and actually give it an answer). Both Clyne and Chambers are excellent young players with fantastic attitudes and will both perform out of their skins no matter who the opposition are, etc, and therefore easily justify their wages. I'm sure, if there is a difference in their salaries, this is due to the fact that Clyne was a Bosman-signing while Chambers was an academy player. So obviously Clyne will be getting more. But the fact is, that when they come to sign future contracts, they will be offered amounts equating to what they offer the club. Which I'd imagine will be roughly similar amounts. And this is what they fully deserve. But with Gaston, we can't do this. We can't just cut his wages from 50-60k to 10k. So we are stuck with a guy who isn't good enough for the first team, but who is eating up a whopping salary!! Great business sense!!
In addition, I just don't know how you can say the wages/cost are irrelevant!! If we cash in on him, then suddenly we have an extra 12 million plus (plus wages) to play with. That is very much relevant.
I can't quite believe the inconsistency of some people. On one thread, some suggest that the season hasn't panned out as well as it should, however, when it comes to people suggesting ways to improve the squad, they get shot down. Brilliant.
Then you obviously missed one of my posts.
The first one is a question, not a statement. I never said you said we didn't have a plan B, I asked if you would moan when we don't (as several have). It wasn't patronizing and it wasn't a cheap shot; it was a question. If you want more players with the same top level pressing and chasing, then that's what you'll have on the bench... Gaston gives something different (although he does do more of it than you suggest).
If you re-read my post and your bit about 12m for Gaston, I say almost the same thing when I talked about budgets and MP maybe deciding to bring someone else in.
On the Clyne/Chambers thing, are you really hypothesizing facts for your argument. You and I have no-idea what the two players next contracts will be and anyway, I'm talking now. You harped on about having an expensive player on the bench, which suggests that we shouldn't have them on the bench. If someone is keeping them out the team, then that's where they will be.
If your last statement about consistency is aimed at me, where have I said our season hasn't panned out as well as expected. I have continually said it has been a good season and as I expected.
Just finally, I love the way I am patronizing, and the sentence you write before that starts with "Wow, where to even start" Perhaps we are very much alike eh?

What's this about Gaston's attitude and wanting to quit? Did I miss something?
Gaston is a square peg in a round hole for us. He seems to be improving, which is fair enough, but I would definitely sell him if it guaranteed someone like Holtby coming in. There are just better players than him around. It's nothing to do with his wages or transfer fee. I can't think of a game apart from villa last season where he has effected the outcome. I just don't think he's suited to the premier league at this moment in time, and he isn't getting enough game time to adjust. If we keep him he needs to start coming on for more minutes and trying to improve. I will be happy to admit it if he proves me wrong though.
He must have lost a bet or something!Look, if you really want to know the truth, well then... ...I just can't forgive him for the corn-rows. Ever. I'm really sorry, I've tried so damned hard to get over it, but it's just not going to happen. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am. Why did he have to do it? Why??!!!
So he never affected the West Brom game this season then?
Or Newcastle at home last season, or Arsenal at home last season or Norwich this season. I still throw that home game v Sunderland last year when he was our only decent player. I would say that in each if his appearances this side if Christmas he has been looking good and improving.
I just don't understand why some people can't see the value of a player like that in the squad. It has been unfortunate and good that he has not got a run in the side; it's how well we be done this season.
Look, we all know he has not been consistent, but he's also not had a run in the team for various reasons. He is a huge talent who hasn't produces the goods regularly for us yet. He certainly has done more than those that seem not to be keen on him suggest.
Some people see a value, others don't.
